I didn't find a thread "Malaysia Badminton" that's why I am asking the question here. Why was Ong Ken Yon not selected for WJC team and individual events ? He was the winner of Indian Junior International GP. To me, he looked like a promising player.

First of all, the sports system in Malaysia is managed by the government.(ministry of sports/KBS) The government is a party system, so the people vote for the party the want. Then after that if the opposition wins, the cabinet will see a reshuffle(including the ministry of sports). Now this isn't bad for all the ministries, but from the way I look at sports, the ministry of sports shouldn't be mixed with politics. Because the politics in Malaysia is all about money. Yes.. his poor serves. He does mostly flick serves as he is not confident with his short serves i.e.. Defensive play even from the beginning. Look at ZSW, WYL, YutaW, Dechapol ..all other men from top XD pairs..always serve short, and then occasionally flick to surprise their opponents.. His age is catching up anyway and his retrieval abilities (his forte) are also waning..
Tan Wee Kiong is more on front court as well as goh liu ying, so need the good back court and all around court player to fit in XD play...

This article needs to be looked at a little more closely. I think the reporter has injected his own emotions into the article. The quotes don't match up to the words of "Smashes" and "laments". Sure that Yoke Meng is disappointed but I don't think he "smashed" the juniors. I would be very surprised for a coach to do that for average performances. They are not professionals and there are good days and bad days for juniors - more than professionals.
