I think last tournament of this year WTF is Fuzhou Open? hope every Japanese players should be carefull this time.

They might still have to consider playing in Macau or Saarlorlux Open.

Hopefully the unsportsmanlike like last year will not be repeated.

the conclusion, just need to be carefull with Unysis LOL

AY retires from Korea Open. It is stated that she has a knee injury. The recovery may take longer time.

Two months ago, AY was definitely in top form, winning IO and JO back-to-back. After that, she is hampered with her injuries. This is the same script like NO had few years ago. NO won AE 2016 and WC 2017, and the injuries haunt her not too long ago. I wonder if this has something to do with their short stature. Shorter player has to run a few step more than the taller player. This can cause the shorter player to overwork his/her leg even more.

I am waiting for the details regarding AY's knee injury.

I did not see any news about a knee injury.
Where did you get information from?

I got the source from PBSI.

Confirmation : Yamaguchi withdrew from that match because of her knee's issue. Get well soon.

I've said for a while now that injuries are going to come if she continues the way she did. Not only does she have to work harder in each match, as you state, but she has also played significantly more matches than any other singles player (m or f) in the past two years (I started counting from 2017 onwards). That is a recipe for disaster.

Momota was actually second in that category, despite being suspended for large parts of 2017. He might have overtaken AY with the last few tournaments, I haven't checked yet. He is certainly in a very similar situation right now. Works incredibly hard in many matches, while also playing more matches than anyone else. This can't end well. The coaches and the players need to realize that they need to turn it down a little and not play every single tournament. Especially with those back-to-back tournaments.

I saw her match earlier, why do I feel AY's movements are much better than the previous two tournaments?

Maybe She just wants to make sure her injury is completely healed? In China Open, I saw strap like "Mummy" on her right calf, not on her knee, it's a new injury?

Interesting to see this Shida/Matsuyama vs Fukushima/Hirota match at the Korea Open, especially with Shida/Matsuyama winning their last encounter in domestic tournament earlier this year.

I was just going to post the same information but you have beaten me to it. :) Watanabe Yuta has laid down his Yonex racquet in favour of LI-NING. Now this is quite a brave step...

why? will there be any consequences?
Misaki Matsutomo has always been with wilson as far as I remember.
Or is it beacuse li-ning is a chinese company?
true, lots of INA players are with li-ning now.

Well this is Yonex country; all other national team players, with the exception of Matsutomo and Okuhara, use Yonex racquets. As he is quite a high profile player, this switch amounts to nothing less than an slap in the face for Yonex, ... and yes, the fact that LI-NING is a Chinese company, just adds to the insult. And it's not only Yonex; whilst his core fan-base will remain true, some other segments in society will consider this move to be unpatriotic, however nonsensical that may be.

Well, Watanabe has always come across as a bit of a rebel. This really is quite something!

Incidentally, are there any Team China players who use Yonex?

Whilst doubles players seem to be acquitting themselves relatively well at the YUZU Indonesia Masters, ... unfortunately the same cannot be said of singles. Shimono, I think, is sidelined due to injury, and Oie, who is not on the National B team, did not make an appearance. However, Sakai, Koga, Omoto, Mizui, and Takahashi have failed to impress, leaving only Obayashi Takuma and Saito Shiori in the fray.

... At this rate, the career prospects for Team B coach, Masuda Keita, look less than stellar. It hasn't been a good year.

Post-script: ... And now there are no singles left whatsoever.

The same thing for WS coach Hirose? Hirose is a good player, but not a good coach?
Hirose seems too soft and not firm with them. I saw her carry their racket bag several times after they lost easily  Hirose should immediately leave them, more fierce to them, so they can introspect themselves and fix it next time.

Too easy to give up !?
No fighting spirit because they feel they are still young? players like KM, AY, NO when they were young, they already had the spirit of "not wanting to lose". Their fighting spirit was very strong
I think that's what distinguishes the results achieved at the same age. Besides the reason that they lack opportunities and maybe a little differences in talent

I really like AY and NO, why ? because they used to be cried as losing and they also used to be cried as winning a title.

That thing showed us how much they loved badminton, how high their spirit and determination were.

I love the one who dare to cry in BADMINTON.
