Great match between Chen Long and Lee Zii Jia. The latter has been climbing up the ranking for the past few months and today is one solid victory against a top player proving his progression.
If this is Chen Long's best,I'm afraid he is plateauing after coming off his pinnacle at Rio'16, which means, my implication, that he's not going to return to his former best and may start to decline in a year or two's time.
Thats inevitable at his age especially with all the young players still progressing. But he will stil be capable of winning occasionally for a few more years. The match of today was pretty amazing to watch. He could have also win it as it was very tight.
quite a few upsets in the men single today plus a horrific injury. I hope Shi Yuqi recovers soon. This category is now wide open
Yeah, but I think JC has the best chance for the title. His next opponent is CTC. Their H2H favors him. Plus, he is playing at Istora. Not to mention that his progression is great.
I agree it was an incredible match. Lee Zii Jia is a real deal, after losing close second game after leading 18-16 he could keep focus and get job done in three games. On paper Chen Long should be his kryptonite, a player with world's best defence stopping Lee Zii Jia smashes but still he found a way to win. His play looks so calm and composed. Other incredible high quality matches today have been Ginting - Wangcharoen and Shi Yuqi - Antonsen while it did last.
Hmm. Srikanth lost. I wonder what he is wearing in his hand. Wrist watch? He was keep on adjusting it throughout the match. No urgency or whatsoever. Better retire than wasting public's money.
I'm not going to comment on that part but I saw his instagram post last week and felt like he was kidding people a bit... he was endorsing a lining plastic shuttle in a way he plays and trains with it. I don't believe that one second and it sort of disappointed me to see a pro player selling himself like that. While I understand he is paid by his sponsor, I think it should remains credible. Had he advertises the A+ 300 shuttles as his training shuttle I would have understand but a plastic shuttle...
Don’t be disheartened. Pranav/Sikki will end IND’s campaign today on a happy note Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Indian players are very unprofessional imo. They are happy with whatever they've achieved. They should learn from Chinese, Japanese, Indonesians, etc. who strive for more. Indian junior players focus too much on Instagram and travelling. Very complacent attitude. I didn't want to be harsh but we have a serious problem in letting things go easily. Only Saina Nehwal is the one who gives her best everytime and strives for more success.
