Congrats Babyguchi and Momota !! A real masterclass from them both :O Babyguchi didn't even break much of a sweat in complete control from start to finish. Hopefully they can maintain this form throughout the Sudirman cup
Yeah, it's time for Japan to become the new champion of Sudirman Cup. With JPN's lineup, it is a shame if JPN fails to win.
Hendo/ Watanabe really played above their usual standards today. In a way the retirement of Higashino might have helped the performance of Watanabe today; who often struggles to keep up physically in men's double matches. Weird G2 though, the indonesians got down on themselves and gave up too quickly; you could tell from their faces and body language.
They have a chance but it will still be a very close fight I think! They can manage 2 points with MS and WS but will have to fight hard to get the 3rd point: japanese WD have been really inconsistent this year, and higashino is still improving. It will probably come down to who wins MD in the end.
3-21!! HOW? Didn't watch the match. Something terribly wrong with the pair. They definitely need to rediscover their chemistry. Other pairs now will truly believe that they can beat the minions comfortably. Play hard. Train harder.
Well, Japan is the overall winner with 3 titles. This means that Japan is better than China in this BAC.
Had to watch the replay with the Chinese commentators and they laughed when Matsumoto slipped? Never knew you can stop play and demand the appearance of the main umpire to complain about a service call. Love the way AY's win silenced the whole stadium! We all have our favorites but when someone makes a great shot or play, one should really show some appreciation for the sport. Sudirman will be interesting. Hope Arisa will recover in time!
You will see Arisa playing at New Zealand Open next week. In my opinion, this is not a serious injury
Concur. Incidentally, did anyone else notice AY play a couple of backhands in this match? Don't recall seeing her do this before. smautf
TWO RIVALS SHARE TITLES An important moral boost for Japan to create history in the imminent Sudirman Cup, bagging three titles while host China must be satisfied with XD and WD gold medals. The rivalry of these two badminton strong nations described in Asian meet finals. China scoops first two finals through Wang YL/Huang DP who extend their supremacy, eliminate younger teammates He JT/Du Y, the latter didn't give up until the end, 16-20 down to lose 21-23, Huang Dongping once again played vital role to contribute their victory. Then repetitive narrative for All England women's doubles final battle, Chen QC/Jia YF awake in second and third game to attack fast furiously that troubled the World Champions Matsumoto/Nagahara, 19-21 / 21-14 / 21-19. Japan winning track started with Akane Yamaguchi who outclass and outmaneuver He Bingjiao, these two young ladies come from same generation but their difference is quite obvious. Yamaguchi is so accurate, calm, composed, it's contrary with the less confident, blank and error-proned He Bingjiao who seemed out of idea how to handle the resilient rival, straight-forward match, 21-19 / 21-9. Yamaguchi becomes the first Japanese WS player who top BAC podium. The most interesting final goes to men's singles, Shi Yuqi had excellent start, dictated Momota with his monster speed and ferocious attack. But it's sapping energy too much as the Chinese began to struggling in middle of second game, couldn't control the pace instead forcing to smash all the way, entering entrapment in Momota patient style with long rallies and unbeatable defense. It's getting worst circumstances happened in deciding game, a completely one-sided as Shi had not enough stamina to balance his opponent quality shots. The World Champion shows his class with tactic, tempo, mental strength and superb fitness, 12-21 / 21-18 / 21-8. Last match display shocking defeat by the world number one Gideon/Sukamuljo particularly for the unthinkable scoreline, 18-21 / 3-21, The Minions performance is going downhill lately, lack of creativity when their smashes couldn't break Endo/Watanabe very solid defence on the contrary the Japanese counter attacks were so effective to earn point. Again, the fitness level is the main problem as Marcus stated their energy had been drained a lot in previous matches.
If you put it that way, shouldn't the ultimate losers come from the fans from other country? Because none reach final.
Dumbass, this has nothing to do with China winning or losing. This is about the loud Chinese fans who attempt to sabotage the flow of play especially during the China vs Japan matches. They lost because they did not get to watch their players win from the 3rd match onwards, and the Indonesian players capped it off with a dismal performance.
And..... so winning Only 2 title means being the ultimate loser as the braindead user I quoted said? how about the 40+ other asian nations with 0 title.
