So after starting to break strings like in 1.5 set (bg 80 power at ~31lbs), badminton for me starts to be very expensive sport :/ it would be very good to find something durable but with good control as well and yea power/repulsion is the least concern - any ideas? and please do not offer to lower tension
This sounds like possible worn grommets in combination with hits close to the frame. Ask your stringer to replace them where they break. Also assuming you only play with feathers with that tension.
I already strung them, so no pics, but all except one got broke in the middle, yea heard that simple bg80 should be most durable
BG80 (regular or power) is not known for durability or control. BG65 is much more durable while Nanogy series are better for control. I used to play BG80 as well and it consistently broke around 7-10 days at 27 lbs. Now I switched to Zymax 68TX and happy to restring every 3 weeks. Zymax 69 durability is similar to BG65 but repulsion is much better.
Repulsion is fine, especially for such a thick string (0.68mm). It does not feel as hard as BG80, maybe more like BG80P. Control is excellent because it's coated. Overall, great string with balance between durability and playability.
One tip for you for high tension: change grommets frequently. I have no problem playing over 30 lbs but I choose not to because of grommet damage from high tension and I'm lazy to change them. What I usually do though is turn the grommets around (90 degrees increment) so don't have to change them as often.
maybe the tension must be lowered, I use BG 66 25lbs for 1 month, it's still durable the video is on YouTube
I would recommend Ashaway Zymax 62 Fire. Repulsive and durable. In fact i had never broken any and can even last 6 months without significant degradation to feel.
