I think so. We had the previous finals in Dubai for was it 4 or 5 years?
Well too bad the one paying the bill this time is China.

Now, after Shi Yuqi's scintillating victory over Momota, I'd like to hear what those Chinese netizens who used to roast SYQ have to say; atm, they are stunned into silence, at a loss for words.

Roast what to begin with? Netizens probably expect more titles from him because he is WR2. cant be beaten so badly like the other WR2 right?

What % of the prize money actually goes to each Chinese player? Just curious.

From what I've gathered , it's 50-50 between the player and CBA, though Li Yongbo (before he left CBA) said he'd try to negotiate for more for the players but no idea if he's successful.

AY will lose her position as the second rank. NO, the WTF runner up, will take over her position. I think PVS, the WTF winner, will move to third.

China scoops three titles, leaving Japan secures WD crown and WS goes to India through Pusarla Sindhu. The most unpredictable and stunning result is none but men's singles. The All England champion anwers the doubtness, he demonstrated outstanding performance to frustrate the overwhelming favourite Kento Momota, the Chinese could balance tight netplay then followed by powerful yet accurate smashes, a different Shi Yuqi when we looked his performance in World Championships final against same opponent. A surprise package for Momota as Shi is really prepared this time to read his gameplan well. What a perfect ending for Shi YQ after series of unconvincing outcome to close 2018 with a high note, defeating current best MS with unbelievable scoreline, 21-12 / 21-11, no wonder he almost cried to celebrate victory.

Japan also misses WS title earlier, Pusarla Sindhu was ready for Japanese resilient and patient play that involving many long rallies. Okuhara fighting spirit almost worked well in opening game to close the gap, from 6-14 down to lost narrowly 19-21. Second game also had similar plot, tight contest until the end as the well-determined Sindhu prevailed with 21-17 and got the handsome check, US$120,000.

A breakthrough for Wang YL/Huang DP as they finally break the jinx to beat superior teammates Zheng SW/Huang YQ in three games, Huang Dongping played better than Huang Yaqiong in final to be pro-active at front area. Also the Olympic Champion Matsutomo/Takahashi take revenge over their last three defeats to Lee SH/Shin SC despite the Koreans tried to force deuce but failed to make it, 21-12 / 22-20 for the Japanese victory. Then World Champion Li JH/Liu YC won the jackpot US$126,000 to power past Endo/Watanabe, the world number two never won BWF World Tour tournament prior to this final.

BWF World Tour 2019 will be back soon on January, started from Thailand Master Super 300 then two Super 500 tournaments in KL and Jakarta.

A pure coincidence that BWF Best Dressed winners, Shi YQ & Sindhu top podium this time :D

Me too, his character changed so fast, he's so indecisive and under pressure, nervous all the time then turned to more relax and confident mode today.

I think there is nothing known as home advantage . Maybe it's all psychological. Depends on an individual how he takes his home crowd.

I remember saina playing in first ever India open SS back in 2011 and she faltered in the first round. She kept losing in that tournament in early stages for the next 2-3 years. Also, this year Syed modi wt300 , majority of Indian players lost in the final.

Back in WC2018 held in Nanjing, HBJ and SYQ also couldn't capitalise on home support and faltered due to pressure. But today SYQ won against momota. So winning or losing really depends on an individual or pair.

Some may take an example of Istora. That may be a different story altogether as each player's psychology is different.
