There was finally movement this week, both reported on Badzine. First the advertisement for the replacement Head Coach, then the rash of news stories in the Korean media about the termination of the coaches and loss of the sponsor. Since the coaches' contracts will go until the 23rd, they will not disappear from the national team page until then.
What a sad story indeed after all. I hope that the tournament is still going on, rather than being cancelled when this condition become worse than ever. Is there no other way to deliver that important thing? Hmm... what a twist there... [All quotes from: Source]
After today's win in WD in China's Super 750 event they will get back on track to be a Asian powerhouse Korean coaches resign en masse http://www.badzine.net/2018/10/korean-coaches-resign-en-masse/ All 7 coaches of the Korean national badminton team have tendered their resignations to the Badminton Korea Association (BKA), it was revealed in an editorial yesterday in Korean daily the Chosun Ilbo.
Nothing wrong with the Koreans as such, but there is something seriously wrong with the senior management in BKA. Seems more and more likley to me that the mass resignation is the only way to show the world that BKA is not run by the right people with the right vision and views. As a fan, that is really sad to see. Someone more senior with the right mind needs sort out the governance in BKA and bring back their winning ways.
Frankly this whole situation stinks of filthy politics/politicians sticking their hand in where it doesn't belong. Sent from my LG-H930 using Tapatalk
But those who want the complete story can simply click on the links. Do we really need to cut & paste copyrighted material for people to get the whole story?
Thanks for the link. I thought the MBA is bad...didnt know BKA lagi high handled. Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk
A bit unfair don't you think mate? Park Joo Bong has already publicly stated his major reasons for staying with the NBA. Sent from my LG-H930 using Tapatalk
True but still feel this just maybe just be enuff uncertainty to tip the scales? Just maybe. Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk
Of course of course. I don't deny that the current turmoil in BKA management is most certainly a likely contributing factor. But I'll still say that his openly given reasons probably hold the most weight in his decisions still. Sent from my LG-H930 using Tapatalk
bka is heading down the same path as malaysia. this would be the saddest development for worldwide badminton.
Come on, badminton fans. Do we really need all these national badminton body ? Look at MMA, there are no state sponsored fighters. And yet, they are getting more popular than many other sports. They are getting more successful without it being Olympic sports or Asian Games sport
My exact sentiments. Very similar story. I suspect Team China maybe next. Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk
I think badminton is still not something well loved by the Western world. Once it has strong support there....definitely the sport will take off better. Humans mostly are attracted to either gore or sex. Like the early Roman time of man VS beast. Swim illustrated? Tennis beauty? Badminton kinda of lacks in all these areas. Visually is not as breath taking...but little ppl know this game is not easy. But from showmanship POV badminton scores low. Some westerners don't even consider it a sport Hope the big sport names with mega dollar can start coming in. If u wear lining or Yonex...not everyone will say ur sports wear is dame trendy. Some may even laugh at U. Though design has improved but still is not desirable. Imagine NIKE came on board....mega dollar and mega promo...bamb...the whole ball game may change. Adidas is trying but it's not taking off well. All these big name must have done their homework and know the ROI will not be fast and big enuff. Lining till date cannot give use even a decent racket chart. And the name Yonex and LiNing is not cool....so.... Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk
I din manage to catch this scene on the live broadcast. Was it the players who bowed to their coach first? It's a very touching and emotional picture. Sent from my MI 6 using Tapatalk
Yes they bowed first. It should never be the other way round for something like this. Sent from my LG-H930 using Tapatalk
