It doesnt make sense to aquire nasal cancer at his age without any known risk factors. I think maybe he has suffered from some type of infectious disease affecting the lungs, possibly mycoplasma pneumoniae?

The sad news is that the coverage malaysia reporter is putting it in headlines. Should be fired. You can search it in fb.

    there is no confirmation.

what is known is that he has been in Taiwan for some sort of respiratory disorder for almost 2 months. cancer is just a rumor for now. let's hope that is not true.

among the medical professions among us. what kind of respiratory disorder can last for 2 months plus another couple more for recovery?

seems rather short for cancer (usually cancer treatment last for more months if not years), but rather long for anything else.

The source is Epstein Barr virus. It is highly associated with nasopharyngeal cancer.

And almost everybody gets Epstein Barr virus.

In fact, HK should have the best experience in the world for this condition.

I did think it strange he went to Taiwan. Most conditions should be quite treatable in Malaysia.

If it is infectious, then Malaysia would have been able to cope with the treatment. It is quite odd he went to Taiwan for a prolonged period away from family.

TB? Fungal? But then he would've most likely been unable to travel if infectious.

I think health is the most important. I mean he already won a lot of tournaments that is uncountable but if he lost it on health, what is the point? So he should just rest until he is healthy. Its like working so hard but never enjoy, take a travel trip instead of going on tournaments.

A quick google search seems to suggest he is doing well, no mention of cancer whatsoever. In fact all the news websites seem to say he will be back in Malaysia in couple of weeks time where he will take a months break before being back in action if all goes well.

Not sure how dependable these sources are, but I would have more faith in news websites than potential fake news coming from social media.

Actually I flew to hkg to buy the anti cancer machine and hopefully getting julia wong to get him to use it. But to no avail. He might have won the wc if he used it because of the benefits to his fitness. Too bad. Karma I guess.

Wow... really? Nose cancer? Hope it was caught early and the surgery not too extensive. Wishing him fast and full recovery...

I would be shocked if he returned from this. I'm assuming he'll need chemo etc, and we all know how badly that messes your body up. Here's to hoping he pulls through, but I think this is likely his exit from professional badminton.

Nah, not chemo. Radiation therapy. Focused and without global side effects.

So yes, he can return to play. But only problem is recurrence, is a matter of when.
