Very likely he won’t be playing this year or next year.

    Next year is more likely.
Current info is that he is feeling well and told the coaches that he is ready to train.
    Hopefully nothing bad happens.

Light training that is, right? Or else he could play tournaments if he is already feeling ready to train again? Probably has to see if everything goes well, when he returns to the courts.

Not sure, but the treatment will go on for a month or so. So most likely he will be back by the end of this year.
Maybe he will play tournaments from the start of next year.

It has been rather strange to go to Taiwan for a prolonged period

There is something going round on the Internet that he has cancer.

I only hope that it is someone's idea of a stupid joke.

If he really does have it, hope he can remain strong..

Why would that make sense anyway? Is medical treatment in Taiwan better than in Malaysia?

Cancer ? Oh dear, hope not. Even then cancer is no longer regarded as a 'death sentence', not incurable, esp when detected early.

I'm actually looking forward to his return to competition, most likely he'd need at least another three months to get back into shape, followed by a few more months to get fully match fit. For a 36-year-old athlete, he has been most amazing, a rare phenomenon. If not for his extraordinary exploits, I'd never imagine any athlete at his age could still excite us and leave us wanting more.

To me, in particular, the fact that he at age 36 could beat prime Momota, age 24, is proof positive that Lin Dan's era is truly exceptional.

Yeah I've just been forwarded an article on whatsapp saying "...a specialist discovered he has 3rd stage nose cancer...".

Really hope that this is just a sick joke.

So that is truly a 'news'
My housemate just asked me about the cancer, and I thought it might only be some strange news
Since it has reached this, the hoax must be rather big
Hope any official news is released soon
    and hope LCW gets better

This seems similar to rumours about celebrities dieing. I'll wait for official announcements.
