Nothing big surprise happens in World Championships opening day, the favourites march on to next round as the script is going normal...
    • MS defending champion Viktor Axelsen started his campaign to demolish WR #130 Duarte Nuno Anjo from Portugal less than 30 minutes, 21-7 / 21-8. Host top-contenders, the Chinese trio also clear first round hurdle. Shi Yuqi holds his nerves to dispose Czech Republic shuttler Adam Mendrek, thereafter a modest performance by Chen Long to overcome Hsu Jen Hao. Home hero Lin Dan shows a glimpse of his masterclass skill to produce creative shots and trouble NED rising star Mark Caljouw. Also safely through to second round are Chou Tien Chen, Prannoy, Ng Ka Long and Kenta Nishimoto.
    • In women's singles, some intriguing clashes involve unseeded participants. Indonesian blossoming talent Gregoria Mariska is stretched into rubber games by one of European high profile player Kirsty Gilmour. Also local hopeful Chen Xiaoxin who's back from injury dropped second game against Danish ace Line Kjaersfeldt. Meanwhile former WJC Goh Jin Wei downs Pai Yu Po convincingly, 21-8 / 21-15.

The on-fire Kento Momota will begin his mission tomorrow against Ukraine player Artem Pochtarov, another big gun Kidambi Srikanth will face Irish Nguyen Nhat. Also WS world number one Tai Tzu Ying, the Olympic Champion Carolina Marin, 2013 World Champion Ratchanok Intanon will be the spotlight on Tuesday's fixtures.

Yes, I did. But I don't watch that particular discipline enough to feel qualified to give a good prediction.

Well.. I don't know much about it either. But lately I have seen too many red dots on the side of WD players name in later stages. :D

My predictions are pretty much the same with yours except MS which is pretty open at this point.
I have a feeling that Lin Dan might have a chance to win over Shi Yuqi this time.

    WS : Tai TY
    MD : minions
    XD : Zheng/Huang

Yeah, I was thinking a lot about the MS, unlike the other disciplines. But I think Shi Yuqi might make it. He has a very good h2h against Lin Dan. His H2H with VA is very close. I think it'll be a Momota vs SYQ final.

Shi Yuqi has to cross Rajiv first. His h2h against him is 3-2.
Rajiv is a very tough opponent and this is World championships. So, anything can happen.

I think Verma has more chances against Lin Dan than Rajiv has against Shi Yuqi. SYQ looks very fit. Seems like he has been training extra hard.

I thought the other way around. Lindan is in great shape. I don't find Sameer as threat unless he produces a great game. Whereas i find Rajiv as a huge threat to Shi Yuqi. His game is frustrating to Shi yuqi. I would love to watch atleast this match tomorrow. Hope my work permits me !
