So if that 'something different' was just my imagination, then LD needs to work harder in WC. If not, then we could expect something extraordinary from LD. @Baddyforall So I didn't disagree with your argument of the opponent played better or knew him inside out. But my argument was entirely focused in LD and LD only
He just fear meeting leverdez again in first round. Now that leverdez will not be his first round challenger, I guess he will miss this opportunity to go to next round.
Sad and shocked to learn about it. Ill-fated, possibly two major titles just slip out of his hand even before they began, just when I thought his time has finally come. Don't tell me LCW is fated never to win a major title in his career, first it was Lin Dan, then Chen Long, now it's unforeseen circumstances (or Heaven's will ?). Lee Chong Wei, the Eternal Second.
My argument is in this way. Prannoy is not only a 'good player' but also has beaten all the top players. But Shi yuqi is still struggling against LCW, Srikanth, Victor Axelsen. Prannoy has beaten LCW twice. The problem is his physicality. He will be injured often . So, Prannoy's victory was not given to him whereas taken by him. This is my final explaination.
Well, this is tragic. Hope it doesn't dampen his spirits, we've just seen what wonderful badminton he can still play.
Now with LCW out of the picture, I make bold to say the Nanjing WC and the AG'18 gold are Momota's to lose. With justification, I'd consider it a big upset if KM wins neither of the major events for I believe he will take at least either of, if not both, the titles as the stars seem aligned for him.
Again, I don't care who defeated LD. Whether it was LCW or Axelsen or Momota. My argument stands, LD showed something different in that match and that's all I was saying. You were the one who misunderstood and started talking about Prannoy. So your explanation of Prannoy this or Prannoy that just makes it looks like you were defending Prannoy or even suggesting that he was handed the victory in that match while I had never mentioned anything like that even once in my first post.
It could be 19-yr-old THA MS, Kantaphon Wangcharoen, at R8 to take LCW's place since Huang Yuxiang at R7 was the last invitee. Atm, THA has three qualifiers in Phetpradab, Suppanyu and Tanongsak, one short of the max 4 allowed per nation/MA quota. KW, if invited and accepted, is certainly not to be underestimated, a possible darkhorse capable of upsetting some of the highly fancied contestants.
LCW won the MalaysiaOpen, its more than enough. All the titles he giveth, cant ask for more. Always enjoy his matches. Wish to see him again on court maybe at JapanOpen. Its better to withdraw, who knows if its life threatening.
