C’mon he is olympic champion. He has earned his mark in badminton. Leave him alone please Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Japan hired him as mixed double coach. Read: Mr. Jeremy Gan Wye Teck named Japan’s mixed doubles national coach for 2018
How could you forget Yuta Watanabe. Please also count in Sapsiree Taerattanachai (to make it balance with Uber Cup session)
quite clearly china need to look for new players. with CL and LD aging, I don't see the new younger replacement to be able to replace the old guards. this is so also for ladies. i am referring to single, double is still there.
Then make it more complete and more comprehensive overview : 2016 - as MS2 So, everybody should understand that it's by purpose I think. 1 - 2 - 3 - (4) So, probably in 2020 Thomas Cup, LD would still a part of CHN Thomas Cup squad as the lowest rank player. TLDR; Don't take my comment too seriously...
Congratulations to China and Japan for winning the Thomas and Uber cup 2018 respectively. Quite predictable this time.
Can't say it was a washout for underdog Japan, who almost forced a decider, even with an unlucky scratch MD2 pair which led in the rubber. Who knows what might have been if the match extended to the last and fifth match? For information, K Sonoda and Y Watanabe reached match point 20 first before Li and Liu caught up to force a deuce and went on to win the last 2 points. That was how unlucky the Japanese were in a very closely fought match, 17-21, 21-19 and 22-20. I would say great job from Japan!
some observations from the recent matches. CL and LD seem to take a long time to start a new point after a rally. LD will ask for shuttle change after much delay and about to serve. CL always has his hand raise before opponent is allowed to serve. fitness issue with the chinese players?
Could be with LD but more importantly it is usually a tactic used by any player to disrupt opponent's momentum and to find his/her own. Especially when the opponent's been running away with consecutive points.
I notice he is doing that even when he is leading. unless the gap he is leading is very big and there is no danger of losing. CL is probably a habit. He looks fit but he is too tense. he needs to work on his smashes and net play. too predictable
Its not recent matches for ChenLong. He has been doing that since 2 years ago. So i agree if that is habit because he still looks firm and strong, just maybe not as fit as 3 years ago.
CL recovery was once at its best but too defensive cannot win the game in todays badminton. of couse to attack, you need stamina and old man will struggle more to recharge. haha
I'm afraid it's more how he takes it than me, what I think doesn't matter. Still for a 2xWC and 1xOG gold medallist , his record at the team majors is pathetic whether it's the Thomas Cup, Sudirman Cup or Asian Games. For sure he himself would very much want to set it right, there's still time for him to do so, where there's a will, there's a way. All the best to Chen Long, one of my favourites, nevertheless.
