    This doesn't sound like how an appeal works. Seems like BWF is saying pay your guilty fine first, and only then you get a chance at clearing your name. Well what happens if he actually wins his appeal?

    At least it makes sense now why he approached BAM.

    I am still unsure what has it got to do with BAM

    Perhaps he has to pay the fine to BWF via BAM?

    i don't think he has to pay since bwf has no legal jurisdiction over a player. since bwf makes me enter their tournament through my nat'l association, and if i win $ they pay it to me through my nat'l association, bwf's relationship is between bwf & my nat'l association, not bwf and me. that's how it would play out in a court of law in my country.

    in the end zz may as well look for another job and leave bam holding the bag. his career is over anyway. i'm curious if bwf will actually make bam pay, and/or if bam will make zz pay bam back.

    That's what I was also wondering about. I mean, if you are going to ban ZZ for life, what's effectively the point of paying a fine?

    How far does this ban work? Can a private club employ ZZ TCS? I mean, when they coach, it is out of BWF's territory anyway.

    In reality, what I think will happen is they can't work for anything that is involved in domestic and international events involved directly under bwf, national association. Other independent tournaments or club matches or private coaching well, why not ..?

    what I think will happen is that

    ZZ will become a yoga spiritual teacher and leave BAM forever and ever

    BWF will ask BAM to play 20,000 USD fine and if BAM refuse to pay, they get suspended.

    BAM should really study all the facts in hand if they want to help zz to ensure that they would not end up helping the wrong person. Rm 100k worth of money is not BAM or Government money, its the people or rakyat money that you are using. If i were the BAM president, i would rather prioritize important issues related to the badminton development and align it with the direction of the newly appointed government because Tun Mahathir even did not mention that sports was one of its 10 main ministry today.

    I think BAM should help ZZ, then ask him to work for them by giving talks to all junior shuttlers about the consequences of match fixing while wearing his World Junior Champion Medal in his neck.

    If he can bet 10k in casino, why should he request for help in paying fines?

    Because fines are one way traffic.

    In casino you can get some back and some more.

    https://www.nst.com.my/sports/badminton/2018/05/369358/bam-will-not-pay-zulfadlis-fine

    The BA of Malaysia (BAM) will not help Zulfadli Zulkiffli settle his fine after the shuttler was found guilty for match-fixing by the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

    Norza confirmed that Zulfadli had sent in an official appeal requesting BAM to help him financially as he could not afford the US$25,000 (about 98,000) fine.

    "Yes, Zufadli did write in to BAM hoping for us to come to his aid. After consulting BWF, Zulfadli is now allowed to pay the fine after the appeal hearing process,” he said after chairing his first Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) board meeting on Monday.

    "Apart from that, BAM will be sending a representative to observe the hearing process to make sure Zulfadli is given a fair hearing.

    "We are only doing this because as the national governing body we are supposed to look into all things related to badminton in this country.

    "Having said that, BAM will not interfere with the case. I leave that to Zulfadli and his lawyers. We will also not pay the fine.”

    @alien9113 Finally he did it.

    Meanwhile, Michelle said Zulfadli and Chun Seang's cases had been referred to Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for further investigation.

    There is a risk of Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) being banned if Zulfadli Zulkiffli and Tan Chun Seang fail to pay their fines over match-fixing.

    Yesterday, Zulfadli and Chun Seang submitted their appeals to Badminton World Federation (BWF) on their 20-year and 15-year bans over match-fixing.

    They were also fined US$15,000 (RM59,000) and US$25,000 (RM98,000)respectively.

    The players were not required to pay the fines immediately but only after a decision had been made on their appeals.

    However, under the BWF's rule, the governing body are held accountable if players under their banner fail to pay fine for administrative matters.

    Zulfadli and Chun Seang are independent players but the BWF only recognise these players through their member affiliate –BAM.

    BAM's general manager Michelle Chai said: "BAM are in constant communication with BWF in relation to the applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the cases of Zulfadli and Chun Seang. As the appeal case is on-going, the fine is a non-issue."

    The players couldn't join any BWF sanctioned tournament at all. :(

    :eek::eek::eek:

    Woah. That's a very good way to sabotage their own country's players, should BWF really ban BAM because both refuse to pay the fine.
