Yeah! That's the one I'm reviewing actually (the Wucht P8). I'm actually writing it up now and I'll share it here in maybe a week or so.

Waiting for the Adidas cheque to clear? ;)

Seriously though, looking forward to a thorough, honest review. Take your time. :)

Thanks. If you have previously used Adipower Pro, can you compare these 2 rackets. I have/still use the Adipower Pro racket.

Sorry, I've been a little busy these days and was waiting on some information from Adidias as well. I'll let you know as soon as I finish it! Also, in terms of buying you should go to the adidias badminton page, and they have a list of distributors in various regions to buy it.

All I'm saying Adidas reps is I'm partial to writing reviews ;)

Hope their products come back strong, if I remember right Kwun liked their products in the past. Never used an Adidas badminton product myself.

Absolutely. I think they'd also be wise to offer small sponsorship deals for equipment for relatively successful local players. Comparatively it's extremely cheap for the exposure you get. Televised badminton isn't *massively* popular in the western market; it has its niche, but it's usually people who already play the game. It's not like football where you can have a spectator market.

You want a world top 10 player to use your racket? You're counting out the tens of thousands.
You want a UK County/Bundesliga level player to use your racket? Give them 2 free rackets, a pair of shoes, and a shirt. You can bet they'll use them, or at the very least talk about them.

People look to local players when they want to buy stuff for badminton in the west. "How is your racket? You like it? Mind if I feel it?", very few are saying "Wow I need the latest Adcock racket!".

This depends on the local distributor for each country rather than head office .

I guess so, but surely they get the go-ahead to sponsor players from head office, no?

No. That is left to the local distributor.

Big contracts with top level professionals are from head office. Below that level, and that starts pretty quickly, are handled by local distributors which are a bit of a funny bunch. One guy I knew got signed up to that very tekkie marketing blurb company, he had to go for an overseas tournament and couldn't get the T shirts delivered to him had problems getting the shoes... Couldn't believe it when I heard the story.

Absolutely, as you know if you look around the UK, most people will use Yonex rackets. Why? Because everyone else uses them. You're going to have a hard time persuading someone who's played for 30 years to change brands.

Younger players with less affluence are more likely to look at what they can get for less money. To them, Adidas is still going to be a reputable brand. It's also good for junior players, especially if their parents aren't involved in the sport heavily, they're going to look for a bargain. It's been shown that people love to feel like they're getting an amazing deal from a shop, even if the item is 'permanent discount' stock (we've all seen it, furniture, clothes etc. when it says 60% off!, but really you're just buying it for its actual value).

It's why I also think they need to work with locally successful players, because if you have a strong player at a club using Adidas gear, other people are more likely to use it. If there are juniors at that club, or a coach uses it, they're definitely more likely to look to Adidas products. Whoever's call it is, they should really try to get their products into the hands of players in areas with a developed badminton scene. In the UK, places like Kent and London would be ideal.
