the two players may face jail time back in Malaysia. I guess they don't want anyone from BAM to tell the Malaysian police about anything.
If you guys haven't known already, one Indonesian player also got caught in this match fixing thingy... (but unrelated to Malaysian players) https://olahraga.kompas.com/read/20...ngkis-indonesia-juga-terlibat-pengaturan-skor https://m.cnnindonesia.com/olahraga...ia-terduga-pengaturan-skor-90-persen-bersalah And accroding to PBSI General Secretary, they expelled some people linked to the match fixing activities from Istora during Indonesia Masters 2018. https://m.cnnindonesia.com/olahraga...i-pelaku-pengatur-skor-saat-indonesia-masters

Indeed...... Its a more softer way to say like im not going to send you for life in prison but only ermmmm...... 80 years? .....can?
Very likely,......if the MACC gets hold of their case then thats it.... No rabbit hole can hide them if the MACC think there are reasonable concrete facts for MACC to open an investigations..... Not even if you are bugs bunny... 8 years band from playing competitively will likely be like can only play badminton or giving free coaching in an open court inside Sg Buloh prison camp if found guilty. I advised them to start recruiting students inside the prison camp if suddenly MACC start to put interest in their stories..... Just in case.... For future career preparation.
But what about the actual 'intelectual actor' behind all of this scandal. As long as they don't get caught the same scandal might occured in the future.

Even longer. They are out of the game. Tan 15 years ZZ 20 years http://bwfbadminton.com/news-single/2018/05/02/lengthy-bans-for-tan-and-zulkiffli/
Ouch! I support the ban from playing. Glad BWF took a hard stand. But never being able to redeem oneself and “pay back” by using skills to coach, etc? Have there been comparable punishments in other sports?
Zulfadli and Chun Seang handed career-ending bans by BWF BADMINTON Wednesday, 2 May 2018 9:13 AM MYT rajes paul image: https://www.thestar.com.my/~/media/...hash=3A3FFC76CB81080E48EA51EC9AF15E60192B0B03 Zulfadli (left) and Tan. PETALING JAYA: Badminton players Tan Chun Seang and Zulfadli Zulkiffli have been suspended from competing in badminton for 15 and 20 years respectively for breaching the BWF (World Badminton Federation) Code of Conduct in Relation to Betting, Wagering and Irregular Match Results. The Malaysians have also been banned from any involvement in badminton for 15 and 20 years respectively. The bans cover administrative, coaching, officiating, or developmental functions. In addition, Tan has been fined US$15,000 (RM58,897) while Zulfadli has been fined US$25,000 (RM98,162) by a BWF Ethics Hearing Panel. In reaching their decision, the three-member independent Panel found that Tan committed 26 violations of the 2012 Code of Conduct in Relation to Betting Wagering and Irregular Match Results while Zulfadli committed 27 violations of the 2012 Code of Conduct in Relation to Betting Wagering and Irregular Match Results and four (4) violations of the 2016 Code of Conduct in Relation to Betting Wagering and Irregular Match Results. The independent Panel noted both players “engaged in corruption offences over a significant period and a significant number of tournaments” dating back to 2013 but that Zulfadli had “committed more violations over a longer time frame than Tan” and had “been proven to have manipulated the results of four (4) matches”. The suspensions begin from 12 January 2018 – the date on which both players were provisionally suspended by the Badminton World Federation. Tan and Zulfadli have the right to appeal under Clause 14 of the BWF Judicial Procedures. Read more at https://www.thestar.com.my/sport/ba...careerending-bans-by-bwf/#Hvzdt6tGuUMQokT8.99
Well they have to be responsible for their actions although they can appeal but the crime committed cannot go unpunished
Effectively ending their career in Badminton as whole. What will they do now? No one to blame but themselves.
coaching only means in national setup, right? what's stopping them from coaching privately, other than their tarnished reputation? I have a feeling we will find them showing up in another country in the future.
Badminton: Two Malaysian players banned 20 and 15 years for match-fixing https://www.straitstimes.com/sport/...ayers-banned-20-and-15-years-for-match-fixing Former world junior champion Zulfadli Zulkiffli (left), 25, was banned for 20 years and fined US$25,000 (S$33,400), while Tan Chun Seang, 31, was barred for 15 years and fined US$15,000.PHOTO: THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK Published 54 min ago KUALA LUMPUR (AFP) - Two Malaysian badminton players have been hit with career-ending bans of 20 and 15 years respectively after being found guilty of corruption and match-fixing, the sport's governing body said Wednesday (May 2). The Badminton World Federation (BWF) said former world junior champion Zulfadli Zulkiffli, 25, was banned for 20 years and fined US$25,000 (S$33,400), while Tan Chun Seang, 31, was barred for 15 years and fined US$15,000. The were found guilty of breaching the BWF code of conduct in relation to "betting, wagering and irregular match results", said a statement from the body. A BWF ethics panel, which held hearings in February in Singapore into the case, found both players "engaged in corruption offences over a significant period and a significant number of tournaments" dating back to 2013. Zulfadli committed more violations over a longer period and it was proven he had manipulated the results of four matches, the BWF said. Their suspension began from Jan 12, the date on which both players were provisionally suspended by the BWF. Neither player is affiliated with the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), but Tan was in Malaysia's squad for the prestigious Thomas Cup in 2010. He was banned by the BAM from competing in Asian tournaments for two years after quitting the national team in 2011. In 2011, Zulfadli beat current world champion Viktor Axelsen of Denmark to clinch the World Junior Championships. Badminton has been hit by cheating scandals before. At the 2012 Olympics, eight women's doubles players were disqualified for trying to lose group games to gain an easier quarter-final draw. And in 2014 the BWF asked police to investigate claims by two Danish players, Hans-Kristian Vittinghus and Kim Astrup, that they were approached by a Malaysian man to throw matches.
