There's some classics on here. Best one, I think, is "How did she get up?" ..... like, how do people get up?
Wouldn’t it be great if one of the powerful BCers —like kwun, Cheung, or huangkwokhau — convinced GC to an interview or Q&A with the forum? (At least half of us would be interested... .)
No harm in asking. I think a one off interview is reasonable request. She can only say yes....... or no. I will ask next time I see her. Personally, I like her style. For anyone learning English as a second language, her idiomatic use of the language are great examples of British English and copying a few choice idioms would make one's English sound more natural. "Plumb on the line" "Out by a whisker"

How much more do I need to say? She commentates most major events televised in English, has some UNBELIEVABLE catch phrases, and it's high time we gave her a thread. So, Gill Clark appreciation thread. Post some of your funniest quotes, clips etc. of our favourite commentator.
I said it before and I will say it again. If you are learning English as a second language, she is an excellent model to learn from - both her accent and use of idioms.
Gillian Clark - The Voice of Badminton Badminton fans who have watched Superseries matches on TV would have heard a distinctive female voice commentating in the matches. The voice belongs to none other than Gillian Clark, a former England, and Great Britain player. Legendary TV commentator Gillian Margaret Clark was born on September 2,1961 in Baghdad, Iraq. She represented England at the 1992 Olympics. Gillian's commentatory is unique in the sense that the listener can sense the excitement in her voice and predict what she would say at a particular stage of the match. After a really long and pulsating rally, she will come up with phrases "What a rally" or "I don't believe it." Or after an unbelievable shot, she will exclaim "Oh my goodness." Her badminton acumen is second to none. Gillian has greatly improved her knowledge of players and now provides insight about them when they are in action. Gillian Clark as a Player Gillian Clark is a former Olympian having represented Great Britain in 1992 Barcelona Summer Olympics with Julie Bradbury as her partner. She lost in the Women's doubles quarterfinals to eventual gold medallists from South Korea. I think we really need a collection of her photos lol Seems like every post about her use that same screen grab from the old Badminton World Magazine
Now that KSH has retired from international competition, who, in her opinion, is the current fine specimen of an athlete?
Which of the 5 disciplines is the most competitive? Which nation is about to make a breakthrough on the world stage? What are new things that world badminton is initiating which helps promote the popularity of the sport? Who is she eyeing to be the next superstar in each of the disciplines?
"Who are your favourite players to watch on court, from any discipline?" "Who are your favourite players to chat with off of the court?" "Does watching the professional matches give you the urge to play?"
It would be interesting to have a couple "behind the scenes" stories, if she is willing. eg. Stories of being late to the broadcast booth. Funny situations in the booth or with her colour commentators. Or interesting encounters with players or coaches around the town. I suspect that she is very discreet and wouldn't tell anything too embarrassing .... but ya never know.
Never really knew that the infamous Gill Clark stalker was back in action again.. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5380565/Stalker-threatened-kill-BBC-Olympian-sectioned.html And it also explains why she never have something online.. So sad
