Yes, this so much. It's absolutely ridiculous to have another draw after the group stages. What's the point of a group system, if there is nothing in it for the winner?
I'm not putting everything into money things. How can you say that my statement is based only on money? Let's said it's no problem with those money. Then it won't change the probability of the reserved player get an injury while they're on practice session (before the tournament started). So, it doesn't solve the issue. I know some spectators would feel the competitive level decreasing a lot by 1 force withdrawing from the group stage. We should look into deeper perspective why that's happened. The core issue is injured players and then withdrawn.
I hope sindhu plays to her best today. Yesterday, she was in her absolute best. Sent from my SM-G600FY using Tapatalk
LCW is a beast. Victor succumbs in 3 game matches. Firstofall, both of them need to pass the semis test. Hope somebody won't jump on me for mentioning the word "beast". Sent from my SM-G600FY using Tapatalk
Srikanth has a pretty terrible record in Dubai. Last 7 matches here. 7 losses, 0 wins. Doesn't match with his prestige and fame.
He swings from highs to lows. Must be agonising for his supporters. When he is hot, he is almost unstoppable, but which one will turn up on the day of the match?
My Prediction 1. MS Shi Yuqi 2. WS Chen Yufei 3. MD Liu/Zhang 4. WD Huang/Yu 5. XD Chen/Zheng China will rule again. We will go back to pre 2012 Olympic era.
I initially disagree with the redraw but looking at what happened yesterday where selection of semifinal opponent is possible, a redraw is appropriate, I think.
It won't be in Dubai I believe.. Rudy Roedyanto (if I'm not mistaken he's called as Hauge here?) said in his FB the World Tour Finals will be in China, although no official source about this. Also there are some rumour in Twitter saying that Sydney also wants to host? Anyway BWF hasn't announced the promised official names of that Level 2-6 World Tour. And we're not that far from Thailand Masters 2018.....
Dubai will not have problem shelling out 1.5Million $. They are state backed. Hell there is not even income tax in the country. Its the kind of place where it stands out on its own despite what you think of middle east. and its a good holiday destination. Other locations that i can think worth hosting is Bali/Sanya. Would be cool if there is Bali Superseries Finals / Sanya.
Looks like GabbyAdcock said it will be in China next year. haha China again. Okay let them be number 1 since they hold the most tourneys
Your reply to my previous post was all (2 paragraphs) root from the money issue No worries. Of course it is about probability of how many players will get 'injured'. As you said, it is about injury. One of the key points is for the the 'reserve player' to be willing to come as a reserve. Athlete by default almost always bear some minor injury and just shake it off as long as it is not disturbing too much. Many of the withdrawal comes from these minor injury. Then, the reserve player should not be interested to come only to be a spectator the whole week . If they have quite some quite heavy injury, it by default will reconsider to come there. Of course BWF should invite them and pay for the expenses only for several days for them (gala, training day, maybe about Sunday-Wednesday only if they don't replace someone), also putting financial burden if they want to watch the tournament in the end. The willingness to be a reserve then means that they should be healthy enough to play. However, of course, the chance to have heavy injury in training is still there. But this also happens in all tournaments. How if in All England, all players, simultaneously injured heavily to be able to play? The main point is not only about probabilities of injury, but also about willingness to play. And with the right system, this issue is avoidable in such low percentage of maybe only once in 10 years to occur. I see this system as that kind of system.
Australia Open 2018 will be a Level 5 tournament and their sponsor said that they will focus on other sporting event... So, the possibility for Sydney almost zero.
Poor selection of the city to build the brand of the SSF. It's like, BWF to players: lets play in this country again after 2 (even 3) tournaments there for the final.
