Yes not many pairs can beat 2 chinese pairs in a tournamen yet alone 3 or almost 4. Cant remember when the last time any WD pair play against 4 chinese pairs in a tournament.
Yes after reading your post, I agree. He probably was expecting a high backhand clear which LCW always do. Thanks
Or a straight drop, but not a cross-court shot. He wasn‘t even looking in that direction after the shot was hit.
Koh Rudy (as he's now called) is a PBSI official now and of course helping out in BAC as well. There are other "old members" who also active in the INA badminton scene. BCA (sponsor of Indonesia Open) & Blibli (sponsor of World Junior Badminton this year) are of course owned by Djarum, who has always been an active supporter of badminton in Indonesia with their PB Djarum (the parent club of Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo, Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir, Praveen Jordan/Debby Susanto). And yes, some of us do have better things to do (by being active contributor to the badminton sport itself) as Loh highlighted. I do meet up with Loh and others during the Singapore Open 2016 last year.
Within runner-up result, Greysia/Apriani didn't qualify for Dubai SSF, but still they'll going up to World No.10 The THAI WD No.9 since Huang Dongping/Li Jinhui dropped 4 level into No.13
H If Hong If H.Kong produced an Olympic champion pray tell me why does China have to look up? We should all be happy, No? Why this negativity?
In terms of priorities of support, HK player > Lee Chong Wei > China team > good players > other countries
LOL, looking up to a champion is "negativity"? What kind of snowflake mentality have you been brainwashed with? Why do you think athletes COMPETE if not for the WIN (& all the respect, $, etc it involves)... Even Chen Long, who treats the Super Series like a day-job he punches in for, will buckle up for the Olympics -- because he at least looks up to (aka cares about being) an Olympic champion.
What? LCW > China team? . I can't believe it. Is that so? LCW is so popular there? Sent from my SM-G600FY using Tapatalk
Agreed, like most countries (as per BWF's definition) with a professional/ commercial sports set-up, the people care about the sport and the sports stars more for their spectator/ commercial value than their "nationalistic/ representative" value... (IOW, to be redundant, popular stars will be popularly received & vice versa) The simple reason being that a professional/ commercial sports set-up doesn't really have that much "nationalistic/ representative" value since it isn't exactly or entirely funded by the people's money. I mean, non-Chinese fans of Lin Dan don't care if he's Chinese; just whether he plays like Lin Dan -- not to mention the fact that Lin Dan trains "outside" of the national system; and is (a sui generis case) NOT "representative" of Chinese national badminton/ training at all. P.S. Lee Chong Wei is kinda special, cos he plays badminton with HK celebrity badminton enthusiasts when he visits HK (LCW actually plays badminton for fun, gasp!) -- vs Lin Dan who visits HK for his er, kicks....
I am sorry my comments have made you rant and rave. Glad I have given you an opportunity to unload your feelings.
priorities in Hong Kong in general are: Hong Kong players > Cantonese speaking players > Chinese players > Olympic/World Champions or World Ranking No. 1 players XXF is a good illustration of the above. She felt like playing on home soil in Hong Kong. (She won the title three times here.) The local crowd almost invariably rooted for her except in her last appearance in 2008 when she met Wang Chen (representing Hong Kong) in the finals. That was the only occasion where the crowd not rooted for XXF. She retired shortly thereafter.
I think it happened anywhere, in general: Your country representative --> Badminton Legend/King/Trio --> Current Newcomer badminton star --> Others My 2 cents.
