Have you watched Wei Nan‘s match against Lee Chong Wei at the Denmark Open? It was a similar story against VA. Incredible tight net play, thunderous smashes (down the line and cross-court) and speedy as well. Viktor was very lucky to pull through. I wouldn‘t say that he was clearly the better player. They were pretty equal today.

What's so surprising about it? Axelsen is the most overrated player in the Men's Singles circuit. Fact is he's simply on a hot streak right now. In reality his skills are no better than most others players in the Top 15.

All the upcoming tournaments in 2018 will be proof of just how overrated and overhyped Axelsen is.

Waiting for kento momota to be back in super series tournaments again. He is the only player currently who can beat viktor axelsen

Axelsens best skill is his height, if some other players with nice skills like Kenichi Tago, or Anthony Ginting who has better skill are blessed with height, maybe around 1.85 will do, then they will be more or less unstoppable.

This kind of talk does not mean anything. Each player is gifted with his specific characteristic. Yes, if a player has the height, the hand eye coordination, the quick muscle fibres, the tactical awareness, the explosiveness in movement, the recuperation ability, the sensitiveness in the hand, etc. etc. etc. he would be the best. But each player has only a portion or a degree of each... Axelsen has height, but others have other qualities.

True ....tall players have natural problems covering the front court....great netplay, reasonable defense like that of momota is a natural counter to VA's qualities

Even naturally attacking players like KS with his steep and varied attack will pose problems. However netplay is crucial against VA as against any player.

Haha. 2017 Wei Nan, less sharper than earlier days, can force a 23-21 loss in the decider against Axelsen.

Yet all I read here is the overhype about the Danish tower.
Every good player has his/her time/period currently it's VA's but to be frank I don't find him unstoppable or "unchallengable" and quoting "there's nobody to stop him" or "reigns alone at the top" is far far far more exaggeration. Yes he's a refreshing player to watch and is very interesting unlike many other "top players", let's see how long this "domination" lasts

I agree with that. I know he is a great player and this is his peak time now but don't overhyped him so much that it seems like he is greater than peak LD/LCW/CL. He is well below all three of them.

Viktor said early in G1 that he did not feel very comfortable on court.. which was kind of obvious.

And no, of course he is not as great as LD/LCW/CL. But he has many years left in him.

Because she is good at it. She is good in all three categories. Some people think she is better at XD than WS. Line/Kim beat Ahmad/Natsir in Indonesia last year in straight games. They probably weren't playing their best but still not bad. Line also won bronze in WD at World Junior Championships at age 16 (same year as Viktor won).

Of course VA is a A-rank player but people doesn't need to overhyped him like he will dominate badminton until 2020.

Agree. But he COULD do it. If anyone was to dominate MS until 2020, I could only see VA or Momota doing it. But more likely, the top players will exchange ranks like they do in WS nowadays.
