Who do you think is above or at par with Lin Dan?

At least you would accept that he is the best player of this century?

Yeah, man. I meant the time since the starting of the century, which is 2000s.

But again, I would like to know people who are clearly above Lin Dan, or at par with Lin Dan, from other eras.

If he can win another Olympic gold, surely he would be regarded as one of the world's greatest players.

As I have said, it is not possible and unfair as the great players of their time have not met. They are the greatest only of their batch or era. Wong Peng Soon of then Malaya was the maestro in his time, but he still found the tall neurosurgeon (I think) American, Dave Freeman, a great stumbling block. Compared with Rudy Hartono, WPS collected fewer AE titles. Morton Frost was also considered great, so was his compatriot Erland Kops before him. But a showdown will be needed to determine who is greater. However, it is not possible and the conditions are vastly different from era to era, more so within a century of 100 years. Advancements are faster in the last 50 years than the 50 years before.

Now we can say LD is better than LCW as the former has amassed more titles than the latter, though one would also accept LCW as a great player too. Also LCW has beaten LD before.

And in the next 50 years, it must be quite unimaginable!

You must remember there are other badminton players in China who have a better Olympic record than LD, albeit in other disciplines.

In singles, Zhang Ning has equaled LD's record of 2 golds in WS. Is she the greatest?

In the chart below, LD is ranked 6th.

Why do you bring other disciplines here? We are talking about MS GOAT.

The other disciplines are a like a completely different sport compared to Men's Singles. There is a reason why Mike and Bob Bryan are never compared to Roger Federer.

Now, will you compare Serena Williams with Roger Federer?

Other disciplines are also within the game of badminton. If other badminton players can collect more medals, why can't LD the greatest? He should be doing better.

Without Tang Xianhu and Hou Jiachang ? Ask the European best such as Svend Pri, who have played TXH and HJC as well as RH before what they think of the two Chinese and RH?

Second childhood is incurable, poor fellow.

Lin Dan won only two Olympic golds and nothing else ? Huh ?

What about all the great players in Lin Dan's era who won nothing much, viz Lee CW (zero OG), Peter Gade (zero OG), Lee Hyun Il (zero OG), Taufik Hidayat (only 1 OG), and several more? Shame all of them ?

I think you should refrain from being too personal.

I sometimes wonder how you can claim to be "Citizen of The World".

I believe Svend Pri has died. And I think TXH has been beaten by little known Malaysians before.

Aren't you being too personal with Lin Dan, constantly picking on him ? Why are you so obsessed with him ?

while I don't agree that Lin Dan is the GOAT of MS, but I also some of your latest argument has become out of context (bringing in other numbers)

I still support the argument that Lin Dan is 'the greatest MS of his era' only anyway :D

If someone asks you, who is the greatest badminton player there has ever been? And you don't answer Lin Dan, you're wrong.

    :cool::rolleyes:

I don't even interact with LD, then how can I be too personal with him?

We are having general discussions on this forum, nothing to be personal about. Views are exchanged with no malice on the subject.

BTW I'm not obsessed with LD as some people are.

So? Whatever Svend Pri had said before doesn't count ?

Luan Jin had beaten RH too. Who esle have beaten RH before ? Svend Pri, Prakash Padukone, etc

    http://www.badminton-information.com/badminton-legend-prakash-padukone.html
Prakash’s badminton idol was Rudy Hartono, a legendary Indonesian badminton player. Prakash luckily met Rudy Hartono in Swedish Open and beat him. When reporters asked Prakash about defeating his idol he said humbly, "I could have beaten him 15-0 in that last game but I couldn't do that to my idol, I conceded a point and finished the game".

Your argument is full of red herrings, logically fallacious; avoiding the issue, digressing, often changing the subject, diverting attention.

I'm beginning to feel sorry for you, acting butthurt.
