Anyone can update us on what is the ticket price at the door? The web links to universe.com that sells ticket at $30 with $15 discounts for seniors and students (early rounds are $10). I called the Convention Center Office, and they said $35 each day (even early rounds), no senior discounts. A lot more local seniors would like to go to fill up the seats if it is $15 at the door!
fri/sat/sun is $30 each day, but there may be fees. no cash sales. you must buy online. however, i heard the box office for walk up is open sunday only. (the normal contract for renting the convention center lists charges of $1,000/day to use the box office. they made a concession for badminton to only require it on sunday. usually you have to use it every day you rent space.) you might be able to pay cash on sunday...
Kashyap Parupalli and Sameer Verma to face off in QF. They are joined by HS Prannoy and 1 MD pair Manu Attri/Sumeeth Reddy.
from the 40 quarter finalists you can see the strongest teams, and where their strengths lie: 12 - japan (2 ws, 4 wd, 2 ms, 3 md, 1 xd) 10 - korea (1 ws, 3 wd, 2 ms, 1 md, 3 xd) 4 - india (3 ms, 1 md) no other team had more than 2 entries making it past round 2. this is the highest level of competition the u.s. open has ever had, and i mean from all players, not just the top 3 teams above. euro wise keep any eye on the netherlands. there's some hidden talent there. they're far behind denmark, but it would not surprise me if they pass england before 2020 as europe's 2nd best team.
The most deciding match gonna be Prannoy vs Kanta Tsuneyama, whoever win it will have biggest chance to become a champion here. Koki Watanabe in the upper half could be a dark horse there
Yeah Selena Piek, Muskens, Arrends, Mark, and Tabellings pretty good. But I will still favor France, lead by Brice Levredez to surpass England. Also, watch out for Bulgaria, alas not enough exposure/quality coaching/funding because I once thought the likes of Croatia, Sweden, would kick in
on average the Netherlands athletes are a few years younger and are ascending to their peak. The majority of the French squad are already at the latter stage of peak performance and/or descending. The trek to Tokyo is a steeper climb for France.
I believe it is $30/day for Fri/Sat/Sun. Not sure what the senior and student discounts are. You can buy at the door. As for Saina, I heard she is skipping out to prepare for the WC next month.
due to the shorter 5 day schedule all the ms quarter finalsts played twice yesterday. today we'll find out who is affected most by it...
Kashyap Parupalli, HS Prannoy and Manu Attri/Sumeeth Reddy are in semis! They can still get knocked out if they are complacent or lose focus.
they are the finalists! ms - prannoy is looking smooth, sharp and fit. i pick him to win. wd - matsumoto/nagahara vs. lee/shin: shin seung chan is the least experienced of the 4. it will be decided by how well she plays. ws - ohori vs. li: too close to call for me. xd - it comes down to shin seung chan again, but kim ha na is going to be too much for her to equal. seo sueng jae/kim ha na for the win. md - lu/yang [1] vs. inoue/kaneko [2]: it appeared to me, watching from the 4th row, lu ching yao tweaked something during the semi match against reddy/attri. his play slowed down a bit and lacked focus after dominating game 1. i'm not 100% sure, it may be nothing. 3rd game was controlled by reddy/attri for the most part, yet they couldn't pull away. tpe winning the third game was a combo of luck and never-give-up intensity coming from 14-18 down (trailing most of the game). for those reasons i'm picking inoue/kaneko to win. they are playing very sharp. beating choi/kim wasn't easy.
All indian finals in a GPG tournament. Whoever takes the gold, it is good. But i want H.S.Prannoy to take the gold.
Unfortunately the result on Russian GP not good as US GPG, Anand Pawar, Siril Verma and others are not able to reach the final. https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/matches.aspx?id=8FC077DF-0C43-4868-B573-8F4E9DACE3EA&c=IND
Everything went as predicted on paper, only Siril disappointed. Although I hoped Vrushali Gummadi has developed enough to take out Natalia Perminova, close match, the Russian had more exposure, hence the victory. The same conclusion for Rahul Yadav. Natsuki Nidaira just very strong for Indian juniors atm. Anand Pawar still have some spurts of Excellence left in him, great to watch. I must say I am no fan of this 11pt format
Kashyap Parupalli and HS Prannoy set up third All Indian MS Final! Indian MS will only get better each year.
Nah he had some trouble against Gao Zhangze ,but then that was expected, afterall he's a Chinese in a team Championships. But yeah, even I don't get a champion feeling from him. Like you would feel from SFX last year. Akarshi looks pale shadow of the hopes and expectations she created in last few months. Dhruv Kapila - the brightest in the current crop, should do something good, although a relatively week Woman partner, and an erratic male one doesn't help much
Krishnaprasad garaga is not an ordinary player though. He won asian championships U-15 once with Satwik. He is experienced player than Dhruv. Hope to see them in podium. Not easy to win Korean pair.
