the top tier ws players have caught up with Marin's best weapon, speed. Her racket skills are no where near the top 20 in ws so she cannot incorporate deception into her game. Also, she often has mental lapses when pressured or in a long rally. It's worrisome how in recent tournaments she could not closeout games when she was the first to 18/19...

Remember her 18-11 game 3 lead over Intanon at the All England? Intanon went into defensive rally mode resulting in 10 straight points, during which Carolina had a few easy put away chances and slapped them into the net.

It's not a case of her suddenly being a bad player at all (she's still #2). It's a matter of which direction her game is going: is she improving or slowly getting left behind?

If she wants to compete more consistently in the majors perhaps a change in her training routines might help...?

amazing how at his age he's no easy match for anyone. his heavily weighted stick-to-the-basics style of play has certainly been a lesson to us old timer's over the past 5 years.

Looking forward to Jonathan Christie vs Lin Dan of People's Republic of China.

Two players with a vastly different style and hungry for success.

One is a confident Shot maker and other believes in penetrating opponent's defence.

Lin Dan's counter attacking skill will be put on the gas against A Superior Physical force Christie.

I hope Lin Dan have enough fire for this one.

Also, interested in Kidambi Srikanth vs The World Number 1. A Tactical battle fused with ingredients like jingling nerves, concentration and risk-taking shall treat us with a very good encounter.

Also Interested in Indonesian wonderkid Sinsiuka Anthony Ginting. How high is his potential ceiling.

To me, it's really all up to Lin Dan, not his opponents, except for Chen Long and LCW against both of whom he hates to lose to. Frankly, every time Lin Dan steps on to the court, I don't know which Lin Dan will show up.

What an luckless draw for the three CHN WD, all in the same quadrant, Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan, Bao Yixin/Tang Jinhua, and Huang Yaqion/Yu Xiaohan.

Rajiv Ouseph was in sublime for in Indonesia. I am not surprised that Prannoy got beaten. I hope Rajiv wins a major title someday.

For me, watching Lee Hyun Il is as entertaining as watching the top trio. Antonsen couldn't believe that the match just slipped out of his hands!

Lee Hyun's entertaining ways would continue if he gets past Zulkiffli today. Let's watch his progress!

i re-watched the second half of game #3 against antonsen. relatively speaking lhi used zero energy compared to antonsen. he doesn't try to over power you, which makes playing 3 games a lot easier. even lin dan & lee chong wei show signs of fatigue when stretched to game #3. off the top of my head i can't think of a smoother, more efficient player in ms than lhi.

You're thinking of Ngyuen Tien Ming (Vietnam)-- top 5 in his hey-day I think... still plays well, but concentrating mostly on regional competitions now...

    Sort off.
She said, it's really difficult to win a tournament. As you play Chinese players one after the other in succession.
And yes, provided the condition of CHN WS back then with the golden trio, JYJ, Wang xin and many others it was really exhausting both physically and mentally to keep on defeating them day after day. Esp when in CHN.
So she suggested, there should be quota so that there will be chance for every nation to participate. That's how WC and OG works

tien minh nguyen definitely has the ultimate cardio but he doesn't utilize a snap-smash, given the opportunities, like lee hyun-il does. maybe because tmn isn't as tall. in that sense merely running all match isn't as efficient.
