Tested the HX900 today with JS10 and JS12. I'm an intermediate player who likes even balanced rackets so take my suggestion with a grain of salt. Gotta say, the HX900 hits like a wall. Unstable even if you don't hit the sweet spot and just doesn't feel right. Like the other guy said, if you don't hit the sweet spot you get punished for it. My friend commented "This racket doesn't sound right". Personal opinion: If you're not anywhere near an advanced player, stay away. LOL JS12 is the most forgiving of all rackets, but it is more head heavy. So you'll lose out in control and the lot. Smashes on the J12 feels like match made in heaven, sounds good and very powerful. JS10 sounds like the best of all three for doubles play. Even balanced racket, fast and feels great. There's no way this racket will smash as good as the JS12, given the same force, the JS12 will always smash better. If I were to compare Intermediate Level Comparison. For an advanced player this may totally be different because they may hit the sweet spot more often than I do. Smashes: JS12 (clear winner) > JS10 > HX900 Control: JS10 > JS12 > HX900 Drives: JS10 > JS12 > HX900 Lifts: JS12 (if your wrist can take it) > JS10 > HX900 Feel: JS10 > JS12 > HX900 Verdict: JS10 > JS12 > HX900 Backhand: JS10 > JS12 > HX900 Sorry this sounds really biased against the HX900 especially in the HX900 thread, but I just won't spend $200 on a racket that is so unstable most of the time.
Hmm odd. I found hx900 a solid all-rounder, I wouldn't call it unstable. For me, smashing wise, I felt it was way better than js12, but maybe that was because I had nbg98@29 on hx as opposed to bg66u@27 on js12. IMO if you like arc 10, then you might like this.
Yes, there is also the factor on how much time you spent on the racket. I believe having a lot of familiarity with the HX900 will allow you to unlock its potential. I didn't have much bonding time with it because the equipment store actually loaned me the racket to test, it is a new racket so I wasn't allowed to play a game with it (to prevent clashes). But it certainly did not click at all when I was practising with it. JS10 and JS12 clicked immediately.
@paulstewart64 How it feel, HX900 compare to HX800Power... HX900 It has RRI index @8/10 = stiff.. and you say its is slight HH.. Look like similar to HX800P..
It plays different to 800 P. This is the most stable hitting face I've ever come across. I can't put this racket down! Every time i choose another racket to test or coach with, and then return to HX900, it's like coming home. What was a I thinking leaving this racket in the bag? Currently i am switcing between HX900, TK9900 and JS12. Got to say all three rackets are so good. HX900 plays "tight" - just an amazing racket and the more I use the better it gets. After using this racket for numerous sessions over the past two weeks and at tournament exclusively here's my view on this racket: Stability: This racket is without a doubt stable on smashes. Being a die hard MXJJS user, I have never found a racket since it stopped production that could mach the face stability when accidentally hitting off center shots. For me personally I attributed allot of the 'easy' power from the JJS was from the stability, whatever energy you put into the racket, will surely come through shuttle. Speed of frame: Nothing exceptional to mention here. The frame seems a bit more 'boxy' compared to the HX800, I imagine this attributes to its stability. Feel: Remember the whole feel fiasco with the HX800? All solved. None of that 'arm is going to fall off' reaction when you hit anywhere else from directly in the sweet spot. Defense: All fine here. High torsion resistance from the shaft makes the shots go where you intend them. Summary: This racket seemingly is a winner from Victor. In a short time it's impressed me more than any other of Victors releases over the past two years.
@paulstewart64 Im still waiting for the articles.. Is it a 5 star gold awards again.. after Jetspeed S10 and Voltric LinDan Force..
I finish testing this week. i like to give a racket a few weeks before i write about it. This allows me to test in different situations. I will be restringing it today and can play again to finish my review. I agree with Jchowdury's comments though. I loved 800P but it felt too heavy as a 3U, the 4U was better. With 900 it feels great as a 3U. Paul www.badminton-coach.co.uk
I have been asked to hold off the review for a few weeks as the racket is sold out across Europe. HX900 is only available in shops with remaining stock. I have an ASICS racket to release shortly followed by TK9900 and then HX900. Paul www.badminton-coach.co.uk
JS12 is more head heavy and more flexible in the shaft. Both are excellent rackets and I switch between them often. So far i haven't found the right string tension on HX900 for me whereas JS12 likes anything. No matter how often i use other rackets, I always want to reach into my bag and grab HX900. It has that appeal. Paul www.badminton-coach.co.uk
Yes sorry, no idea why I typed that except that I'm usually in a hurry when spending any time on here. HX900 racket review will be released next week. Paul www.badminton-coach.co.uk
Review for HX900 will go live next week. Video review already recorded for Youtube and I think it's ready to go in not already posted. Paul www.badminton-coach.co.uk
Not something you can ever compare tbh. An even balance versus a head heavy beast.the amount of material in the head alone differs. Sent from my LG-H990 using Tapatalk
