Since Macao GPG in 2013, she has won four XD titles and one WD title (plus three 2nd place finishes) in Grand Prix Gold competitions. Now, the princess of Grand Prix Gold has qualified for World Championships 2014 in the Mixed Doubles category. With the top two Chinese XD pairs aging quickly, Huang YaQiong and Lu Kai may even challenge for a spot in XD for the Rio Olympics.

I look forward to seeing them perform at the highest level soon and realize their full potential. I think the other promising XD pair to watch should be Liu Cheng/Bao Yixin.

The queen of Grand Prix Gold reigns again at the Swiss Open. I consider LK/HYQ a better pair than LC/BYX. However, they have a dismal record against the like of JFN/CP and TA/LN. If they want to go to Rio, they must start winning against them.

The GPG queen's transition to SS has not been easy. Lu Kai/Huang YaQiong has yet to score a win against either Fischer/Pedersen or Ahmad/Natsir.

If they can't beat the Danes today, we may soon see Ma Jin playing with Lu Kai, given Xu Chen's uncertain condition.

Huang YaQiong will have to wait for the next Olympic cycle to redeem herself. But by then, Chen QingChen may succeed Zhao YunLei as the new queen of XD.

I prefer this pair over Liu/Bao but they keep on losing when their opponent is either TA/LN or the Danish pair. :(

HYQ's star has faded since a promising start in the senior circuit. She proved to be too limited as a WD player. Especially, she can't provide enough support for her long time partner Yu XiaoHan who has her own limitations. She is doing better with Tang JinHua, a more complete player than Yu XiaoHan.

However, she may still have a future in XD. Don't mean to jinx her by reviving this old thread, but this may be her best shot at an SS title in XD, at the Indian Open tomorrow. Wish her luck!

Congratulations on Huang YaQiong and Lu Kai's first Super Series title together!

Although they also had some successes in their respect WD and MD careers, I think their best chance to succeed is in XD. Therefore, Lu Kai should be included in this thread. Would admin please help adding Lu Kai to the title?

It was great to see a lively HYQ at IO. The combination of her net coverage and Lu Kai's back court attack should provide a potent combination. At IO, they had it relatively easy. And they still have not scored a win over the top Danish and Indonesian pairs. Let's see if their first SS title will bring them confidence to get over those hurdles.

    Yes, we do indeed.

She is always a looker and now she is also a player. Given that Chen QingChen seems hitting a wall, Huang YaQiong may even win the race against Chen QingChen.

Would you mind adding Lu Kai to title and combine the other thread? I think they will have their greatest success together with each other.

Huang Yaqiong I'd imagine is one of those sweethearts who look too sweet yet you want no parts of trouble with. You can't picture her getting angry, but I have this feeling that when she scolds she'd make the entire room quiet.

Good question. Zhao YunLei thread worked out well on its own. Maybe Huang YaQiong can carry her own thread too. She is certainly the focus of attention at this point.

Ha, Lu Kai's nickname is llama ? Suits him, tall and cute, big but gentle, and maybe a little playful though shy.

The nickname is actually "Alpaca" which is also an euphemism for a swearing phrase. In this context, it is obviously meant to be a friendly jab. Also, it does look a little like Lu Kai.

Ah, I see. All I know from reading up is that alpaca and llama are both camelids, and there are some differences. For one, alpaca is considerably smaller than llama, so I thought the tall and big Lu Kai is more like a llama.

OTOH, alcapas are very gentle and timid, can learn tricks, and need protection whilst llamas are very brave, can carry heavy packs and serve as herd guards. Your pick which nickname suits Lu Kai better.:p:D
