The European Championships is Badminton Europe's most prestigious event and is played in week 17 every year (except for years with European Games). The event officially crowns the best male and female players and pairs in Europe.

The 2017 event will be played in Kolding, Denmark from 25-30 April.

    The official tournament trailer:

Quarterfinal day today and we're already down to the last match on the TV Court: Conrad-Petersen & Kolding [2] against Ellis & Langridge [5].
The English pair took the first set after being down from 15-12 to even the score at 18-18 and going on to win 21-19. Second set never in doubt for the Danish pair but Langridge/Ellis going into the interval 11-5 in the final and deciding set ...

The match before saw Anders Antonsen [5] (first mentioned here :p) convincingly defeat Marc Zwiebler [3] in two sets, 21-19 21-18 the final score there. Anders Antonsen now 20 years of age as he celebrated his birthday a few days ago, or iirc yesterday even same as Chris Adcock (commentator still called him the 19-year old).

Things all even now in the MD match at 14 all ... 15-14 to the English now ... and back to level.

20 all now ... 21-20 English ... almost had it at 20-19 already but pure luck kept the Danes alive. 21 all now ... :D

Rather weak entry field in the post-Olympic year o_O

What happened to Viktor? I couldnt believe my eyes when he lost to AjayJayaram in Malaysia courtside. Is he still tired from winning at IndiaOpen?

Viktor played so bad against Antonsen. So many mistakes, not typical of how he played when he won India SS. Having said that, Antonsen is on the rise. Antonsen needs to correct some of his form and balance. Antonsen reminds me of Viktor as a junior because Viktor had lots of balance and form issues before. Viktor has since smoothened out his form. Antonsen needs to do the same and I think he will be pushing JoJ for the 2nd best Denmark MS player at a certain point.

Me too, am rooting for Rajiv Ouseph, for all his years of hard work, persistence and dedication to English badminton and to the world.

Congrats to Rajiv Ouseph, European MS Champion 2017.

The Adcocks succeeded too, edging out Fischer/Pedersen.

sorry there hasn't been much activity here but it was a fun event and the matches were really thrilling. happy with MS results the last two days, hope to see a consisently strong WS contender soon, european MD/XDs looks promising as always, WD field needs a bit more spice
