Formidable win by Akane! Not much challenge as expected :) Has not dropped a single set in the whole tournament, just like Tai TY. Must say she was really lucky Sindhu lost haha! Sindhu would have been a MUCH harder opponent for Akane with her extra height. She must have been relieved that HBJ beated her. :p

    No problem for TakaMatsu either

    FINALS (02.00pm) => https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/...48544D-A795-4401-9AFE-23A5532931B9&d=20170430

Host China has secured two titles from men's category and possibly to add one more through mixed doubles but flop in women's discipline where they once were powerful.

XD, Dechapol Puavaranukroh/Sapsiree Taerattanachai (THA) v Lu Kai/Huang Yaqiong (CHN)
    H-2-H : 0-4 / WR : 11 v 2
Sixth final for world number two in this season, started from GER Open last February, Lu/Huang become formidable pair at the moment, a self belief to do best in every tournament. It's tough challenge for Thailand combination considering their head to head statistics despite they could stole opening game in last meeting, SIN Open final recently. Puavaranukroh/Dechapol have significant progress, transforming to dangerous pair, they knocked two Chinese rivals in last two rounds, top-seed Zheng SW/Chen QC and Wang YL/Huang DP. The All England champion is indicating their top form along this tournament, never drop any game en route to final including semifinal opponent, Lee CH/Chau HW.

WD, Misaki Matsutomo/Ayaka Takahashi (JPN) v Kim Hye Rin/Yoo Hae Won (KOR)
    H-2-H : 1-0 / WR : 1 v 44
The underdog Korean pair continue surprising run to cruise into finale, best achievement so far of this new partnership who made debut last July in Chinese Taipei Open, playing 6 tournament. Kim/Yoo solid defense frustrated home hopeful Huang DP/Li YH and brought them to last round but an uphill task await them tomorrow, title holder and the Olympic Champion Matsutomo/Takahashi who outclassed reigning All England winner Chang YN/Lee SH convincingly at last four. The Japanese pair are clear favorite to top BAC podium once again, their consistency and stable performance despite little bit slow down early this year, shocking exit in All England and failed in MAS & SIN Superseries.

MS, Lin Dan (CHN) v Chen Long (CHN)
    H-2-H : 8-2 / WR : 8 v 9
China twin stars face off in last round, Lin Dan will eye 5th Asian Champion crown while Chen Long seeks maiden title, he lost thrice in BAC Finals 2009 to Bao Chunlai, 2013 to Du Pengyu and last year to Lee Chong Wei. Two-time Olympic Champion exhibited his master class skill, more ready, aggressive, well prepared than his long-time arch rival also best friend, Lee Chong Wei. The Malaysian couldn't develop his game plan as Lin had all answer of his smashes and disguising shots. It was pretty lop-sided match, Lee performed much better in second game but only brief time as Lin often outwitted him with his cross court overhead smash. Considering Lin Dan superb form here, there's slim chance for Chen Long to topple his more illustrious senior tomorrow, the reigning Olympic Champion has bad start in this new season, faltered in some tournaments and pulled out due to wrist injury. Chen defeated junior teammate, the rising star Shi Yuqi to book first final in 2017.

WS, Tai Tzu Ying (TPE) v Akane Yamaguchi (JPN)
    H-2-H : 3-3 / WR : 1 v 5
Who can stop Tai Tzu Ying winning streak? This Taiwanese young lady had pocketed five titles since HKG Open last November, she becomes invincible so far, combination of high technical skill, strong stamina and self confidence. Tai beat all her opponent convincingly including to end Lee Jang Mi gallant run in semifinal. The Japanese prodigy showed her agility and fighting spirit against He Bingjiao. The left-handed He has natural talent particulary her magical cross-court net shot but it's too bad she doesn't supported by strong stamina and good court coverage. Her fitness level dropped significantly at end of second game despite she had the momentum at 17-11. China coach should fix the problem seriously, otherwise it's hard to see this teenager will go far in her badminton career. An interesting women's singles final to watch, how the resilient Akane Yamaguchi can cope Tai Tzu Ying tactical play.

MD, Li Junhui/Liu Yuchen (CHN) v Huang Kaixiang/Wang Yilu (CHN)
    H-2-H : 0-0 / WR : 2 v 15
The organizer puts MD final as last match instead the blockbuster MS final, this is a duel of China next generation after Cai Yun/Fu Haifeng and Fu Haifeng/Zhang Nan era, both pairs are the Olympic Champion. Li/Liu pushed extra effort to overcome Japan number one Kamura/Sonoda with typical fast and furious attacking style, they also had problem to eliminate Malaysian back-ups Ong YS/Teo EY at second round. On the other side, the unseeded Huang/Wang beat two notable combination in their way to final, Rio silver medalists Goh/Tan in last sixteen and their senior Chai/Hong at semifinal.

Ok, the last encounter between Lin Dan and Chen Long was at the CBSL in January which went the full distance and in favour of Lin Dan after a hard fight in three sets. At that time, both combatants have just came back from their respective post-Rio breaks, so somewhat rusty and not at their best.

Their battle for the Asia MS title tomorrow should be a treat. I'm looking forward to it.

What she meant is that it is the most prestigious European tournament at local/ regional level. The All England and Denmark are still the most prestigious european tournament at global/ international level far ahead the European championship. These tournaments are geared towards very different kind of players.

Sure , regional level. Asia is big and most of the world's top players are here. What I mean is, the European Championships is taken more seriously and regarded more highly in Europe than some folks in Asia who thinks the BAC is just an ordinary, normal tournament.

I understand the UEFA European Championships is a big event in Europe.

Maybe LCw vs LD is the exception because of their sheer name but Men Single can be said 90% is the most boring discipline now so im not sure why much the posts. The guys these days just defend and defend
Cant imagine if LCW become that type but yesterday he became that type, his victories has always been attractive.

Sounds like you couldn't much care less about badminton...so why don't you move yourself to another forum? lol Your post is distracting us from reading these great posts about LD/LCW, who are both a part of and completely relevant to the thread about

Whenever the tall and strong Lu Kai jumps smash at the back, it's devastating and intimidating.
