    Lin Dan is so calm, relaxed, even casual at times.

    It's because of his ability to take the shuttle so early that makes him look good..

    Today in the semis the overall level is getting better. One of the MD match has the potential for an exciting one, with the Englishmen Ellis and Langridge facing Liu Cheng and Zhang Nan. The Stoeva sisters are facing Bao Yixin and Yu Xiaohan; depending on how the Bulgarian feel today, it might be fun to watch. In XD, Jordan and Susanto meet Zhang Nan and Li Yinhui, a match worth an SS final.
    The two MS are promising : LD will compete with Ginting, and Shi Yuqi is against Wang Tzu wei.
    All the other matches are a bit indifferent to me, but perhaps it is the occasion to discover new players, like the Japanese WS Hoshi, playing against Chen Yufei.

    It's China against rest of the world for today's semifinal (01.00pm & 06.00pm) => https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/...73AD9A-7BEC-45DA-A677-E5E4165EFCC0&d=20170318

    An intriguing MS battle, two rising stars will face off, recent GER Open runner up against All England finalist, Wang Tzu Wei vs Shi Yuqi. Wang showed tremendous form lately including how he tackled the Olympic Champion Chen Long couple of last weeks ago in Mulheim and delivered stiff resistance against Lee Chong Wei at All England second round. Yuqi thwarted Prannoy to defend his title here, the Indian had good chance to nail opening game but then the Chinese made inspiring comeback from 13-18 to 19-18. In second game, Prannoy produced many errors and couldn't control the match properly as the Chinese was really determined with his gameplan. On top-half draw, the relax Lin Dan gets another Indonesian young talent, Anthony Ginting who ousted Emil Holst in rubber games yesterday.

    Young generation fills WS last four, reigning World Junior Champion Chen Yufei who stopped the resurgent Sayaka Takahashi will take on lesser-known Japan, 20 years old Chisato Hoshi, semifinalist of China Masters last year. Indonesian hopeful, Fitriani came back from behind and fought hard to eliminate Dane future player Mia Blichfeldt. Next, Chinese hurdle will await her, the aggressive Chen Xiaoxin. All the semifinalists are under 21 years old, it's nice to see more and more fresh faces have been emerged into badminton scene recently.

    Mixed doubles top four seeds march on to semifinal, Zheng SW/Chen QC will meet Puavaranukroh/Taerattanachai while Zhang N/Li YH have tough challengers, Jordan/Susanto who still seek their best form. Both Chen Qingchen and Zhang Nan will appear twice today, we'll see whether they succeed to create double doubles tomorrow. Danish WD, Fruergaard/Thygesen score surprising run, to stun established pair Malaysian duo Vivian Hoo/Woon KW last night.

    Denmark has become a well-balanced powerhouse able to take on any team whether in individuals or team championships. In their weakest link, WS, I see a couple of up-and-comers to watch, eg Mia Blichfeldt, Line Kjaersfeldt, and Mette Poulsen (who didn't do well here).

    Sorry to hear that. Prannoy's injury , how serious ? Occurred in G1 or G2, most likely in the second as he managed to finish the set as it'd be foolhardy to play on and aggravate it. Hope it's not too serious and wish him speedy recovery.

    One thing I'll give them: they played with clear intent, purpose and strategy-- hence all the low-%, difficult shots which (when they worked) would get ZN/LYH in trouble...

    At this time, what they need is not time-- but more exposure to top-level XDs and international tournaments... isn't Sikki/ Chopra already the top Indian XD? Who else can they practise with at home, when even the Indian MDs are not as good as them (usually all you need to improve the WS/XDs is to throw them against the MS/MDs)?

    Mia has all the basics down but just really needs an edge to get ahead...

    Now that China is getting all their WS to imitate Marin and smash like crazy, maybe Mia should learn a few trick shots or two like Intanton or Tai and wipe all the "big" badminton nations off the board?

    India has one more good XD pair Ashwini Ponappa/Sumeeth Reddy they beat Fischer/Juhl in India GPG Semifinal. Yes, they practice with the other MS, MD and junior XD pairs. In a year's time, they will get the exposure. They also need to beat a top pair to gain confidence.

    H S Prannoy injured his right knee yesterday.

    In his twitter account, he said

    "Disappointing end to a so called good tournament!! Injured my right knee last night and had to give up mid way!! "

    WD Sara/Maiken did well to beat MAS Hoo/Woon yesterday, not to be underrated.
