because the CHN pair Liu/Li has changed their game plan, thus made Goh/Tan unable to find the answer to win...

They didn't choke, were simply bettered by the young Chinese pair. However they did in the OG to give away the gold.

Amazing LCW can maintain the same pace as 10 years ago, while LD is significantly slower and less powerful.

China still leads going into the semis today, with a sure Finals place in MD and MS.

    Congrats!
You got it spot on for the semis.
I like to see a repeat of the war of the veterans in the final: LCW v LD.
Judging from the results, Sakai was a great disappointment!

    LOL.

So much bias, so much hatred.

    Keep enjoying.

To just pour some salt here:

    Lin Dan

    2 Times Olympic Champion

    5 Times World Champion

    6 Times All England Champion

    2 Times Asian Games Champion

This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.

While we like all the 4 legend thing and stuff.

The only thing to be seen to compare them is to look at their H2H.

    Lin Dan - Taufik 13:4
    LD - Gade 17:3

Does these head to heads even look like close to being equal?

Peter Gade, one of the legends, himself says that Lin Dan is the GOAT.

    Practice and determination man.

Just imagine Lin Dan of the period 2008-2012.

    He would be largely untouchable.

But alas, I just don't see the determination in him to keep playing and performing any more.

On the other hand, LCW is hollow due to the absence of ANY major title.

He is going full throttle for this year's world championships.

Why not to doubt when supposedly "GOAT" lost clean in two straight sets to Emil Host? or when he lost to SDK, JOJ, VA and others? Age is getting to him. He is slow now.

More than age, it is his determination.

Lin Dan used to be fitter than LCW, but these days he seems to be an uncle in front of LCW despite being younger.

Lin Dan is visibly distracted with all the sponsporships, even launching his own underwear brand.

Again, I have no expectations from Lin Dan now.

He may just as well loose to Shi Yuqi.

What stupid team order, as if Lin Dan has never won anything big, AE itself 6 times, what age are you living in ? If you were Shi Yuqi, why would you want to do favours for a senior who's accomplished what any player in history can only dream of when you yourself have next to nothing to your name yet ? This is Shi Yuqi's golden opportunity to capitalize on Lin Dan's disadvantages, fatigue taking its toll, big age difference, weakened physicality and waning motivation, etc. If you were SYQ, what will you do and what makes you think he won't do it?

Remember, in the CBSL, Lin Dan was trailing 14-18 i the 3rd set before he pulled it off to win it against SYQ. For you know, all of Lin Dan's teammates while admiring him also secretly entertain thoughts of not only beating him but that he would go away and not pose a threat to their place in the National Team and in the international circuit. How they envy him and wish for 1/10th of what he's achieved , why would they still do anything to favour or help him? Since when in Lin Dan's career does he need any help or favours from anyone, instead he is the one to mete out assistance and 'gifts' to others, colleagues as well as foreigners benefited from him.

Anybody who thought Taufik and Gade 'gifted' Lin Dan anything are bonkers - you just have to ask the two maestros and I'm sure they would laugh their heads off and retort if only Lin Dan would be so kind and generous as to gift them something, maybe he did, sort of. Don't shame Taufik and Gade, the deserve more respect than that. The fact that Peter Gade's Farewell Match was specially crafted by him to include only Lin Dan and no one else, even hosting him at his home, is testament to the greatest esteem he held Lin Dan, sending a clear message to all what Lin Dan stands for in the badminton world. Enough said.

All these years when Lin Dan ruled the badminton world like no other, all these detractors and LD-haters could only moped around dazed, stunned into silence, and when finally Lin Dan is past his prime, 'aged' and on the decline as any mortal would - Father Time spares no one - they, one by one, can't wait to see Lin Dan beaten by all and sundry, humiliated, so that they get to release their pent-up emotions,to mock and ridicule Lin Dan.

That tells you what kind of mentality they have. Pathetic.

Just ask these pathetic critics or haters to name 4 of the best badminton players ever and see them struggle to not even name Lin Dan in their list. Never fails to betray their own prejudice and bias.

All now all LD fan will silently hoping that LD will reign rule in the world of badminton past his prime. Emerging stars with better stamina denied LD of World Championship, Olympic bronze medal, Superseries, or even Grand Peix Gold title last week.

Just when all seemed lost and forlorn for Lin Dan, written off as bad dream, nay turning into a nightmare, Lin Dan came back from the ashes, rising like a dragon transformed and turned the tables on his opponent in spectacular fashion.

To say that Viktor Axelsen simply imploded is to show him disrespect. He was devastating and disposed of Lin Dan in summary fashion in G1, any lesser man than Lin Dan would've folded and slunk away like a beaten dog tail between his legs. But not the-one-and-only Lin Dan, he came back from the dead, and as paroxysmal put it so aptly, Viktor didn't know what struck him.

Am watching a replay of CM v RI QF match with CM leading 18-11 in the decider, a 7-point gap.

Yet the determined RI slowly clawed back to overtake CM from 18-all with some very good defensive play. That frustrated CM, who then committed a string of unforced errors right to the end to surrender the match to RI 18-21 without even winning back a single point. RI steamrolled CM from 11-18 without looking back. A successive score of 10 victory points when RI was on the verge of losing the match.

It must be one of the greatest comebacks
In AE history! Incredible RI! Sad for CM.
