Shi Yuqi did a good job, beating Ng Kah Long is no mean feat.

    I think he is right.

Carolina Marin is the big match player who performs under pressure.

Any real champion must have the capability to withstand pressure, expectations, and close moments.

Lin Dan is the prime example of this.

In women's singles, since the time I have started watching the sport (around London Olympics), I can only say Carolina Marin as the person with true championship mentality.

Li Xuerui on the other hand, despite her remarkable skill, is perhaps the most brittle player I have seen.

After the Olympics, where she won as an underdog, she has not been able to last in any other big matches, where the pressure and expectations were on her.

I'd like to think it's more of HBJ adopting the wrong strategy and tactics rather than a case of her mental weakness, on top of her over-eagerness to win.(Btw, I've a lengthy discussion in HBJ's thread).

There is no way Tanongsak is going past Chou Tien Chen.
Just saw one of the `old LD` matches. This new `old LD` looks very crappy in contrast. But VA against him should still be a hot one. Am not confident of VA`s abilities despite his many achievements. He still has problems changing directions. LDs problem is his smash. He needs to get it going.
Sakai against Yuqi must be good too.
    The semis.
    CTC vs LCW
    LD VS SY,

    Final
    CTC vs LD,

    AE 2017 champion.
    CTC

There's no denying Lin Dan since Asian Games '14 is a mere shadow of his former self.

Chou Tien Chen is always a threat, on his day he can give anyone a run for their money. But still I don't think he can stop LCW should they meet tomorrow just as he didn't at Rio though it may be much closer this time.

Predictions always look good on paper and often one's prejudices and wishful thinking also comes into play. If there's a heavy price to pay for betting on the wrong horse(s), would you be more objective and rational ? Of course, you will.

Well, as there's nothing to lose and talk is cheap, I pick Shi Yuqi to wear the AE crown on Sunday.

Viktor Axelsen or Lee Chong Wei would be the best bet, though.
