    In men's singles category of qualifying round, Zhao Junpeng, Anthony Ginting, Kazumasa Sakai and Brice Leverdez secured main draw ticket. Sourabh Verma made great comeback when trailed behind, 7-17 at deciding game even reached match point, 20-19 but Ginting grabbed three consecutive points at crucial stage to seal the match 22-20. Sourabh's younger brother Sameer also failed to clear first round of qualification. Another familiar names also were sent packing early, Takuma Ueda, Jeon Hyeok Jin, Kenta Nishimoto, Ihsan Maulana Mustofa.

    Lee Chong Wei will take on Brice Leverdez, the man who beat him in Denmark Premier last autumn and the Malaysian hero will be alert this time as he had shocking exit last year by Sai Praneeth at opening round here. Newly-crowned GER Open champion Chou Tien Chen has negative head to head against Indonesia qualifier Anthony Ginting, never won in their two previous encounters.

    Yup, unfortunately Stoeva sisters were born roughly 1 year apart. It would have been awesome though.
