Can anyone pls tell me why so many top players like the Olympic champions CL, ZN, FHF, Boe etc all skipped this tournament or withdrew? And it's not just this tournament but many other ss tournaments as well, especially lin dan who skips everything? It's really frustrating seeing a sub par draw when the best players all withdraw for no reason.

Chen Long has to play for Qingdao Airlines
Zhang Nan is training with Xiamen City
Fu Haifeng is a coach now
    Boe is sick.

Lin Dan is preparing for his match with Chen Long.

    Thanks.

Thanks! Btw how did you find all this information, there's very little news on google or any other website updating these players' whereabouts or reasons for withdrawal. I mostly only find out once the draw is out.

    Do you check their weibo?

    You forgot about ambassador....

It's about a duty from now on ahead... so, the five ambassadors will do BWF's Integrity Campaign for next several years. Only active players could be BWF's Integrity Campaign Ambassador. They hold double functions, be a players and also an ambassador.

How can a retired players become an ambassador while he/she not playing again. Would they go anywhere with their own money to do the ambassadors task?

Presumably BWF have written into the costs of host nations of tournaments that integrity amabassadors will have their costs taken care of.
