well done Sameer. Defeated Veteran Chong wei feng in straight games. He entered his first Superseries Semifinals. Just last month celebrated his 22nd birthday. Most probably, he will meet Jan o Jorgensen.
Anyone know what happen to Liu Cheng/Li Yinhui? They are easily defeated by unmoved Liliyana Natsir. Li Yinhui also made too many uncharacteristic error.
I remember you have called CWF veteran twice, he's been around quite some time but he is not yet a veteran considering he is just 29 years old. Players like Hu Yun and Sony are veterans.
Disappointing game from Goh/Tan. I expected more since they are world number one but this is beyond disappointing. Tan Wee Kiong just kept hitting the net almost everytime. Shame.
In the battle of the 'oldies', the 35-year-old Hu Yun outfoxed the younger 32-year-old Sony. And Hu Yun celebrates like he's in his twenties, having some fun in front of his home crowd.
Sorry. I thought he crossed 30. Oops. I forgot his compatriot's name. Daren liew. I think he crossed 30.
These two share the trait that they can be amazing and exciting to watch, but they can equally have bad days and be a bore. I'm guessing that is one of the reasons they weren't put on the BWF TV court. What was the quality of the game? Congrats to HY for the home team win!
Not bad, entertaining but , like you said, not of high quality. Still the crowd likes it, their old boy playing and winning.
A veteran can mean an old soldier but in badminton terms I prefer the general meaning of one who is long experienced and practiced,so, yes, I'd say Chong Wei Feng at 29 is a veteran, assuming, say, he started at age 16 or thereabouts.
In MS, Hu Yun plays fellow junior Ng Kah Long who I thinks has a clear edge and, in my opinion, he stands a better chance against JOJ, whom he's beaten recently, and Sameer.
