    SEMIFINAL ORDER OF PLAY (01.00pm) => http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/s...490F7E-629A-410C-9365-F7938C57AA25&d=20161119

Host China still have chance to secure final spot in all categories with 7 representatives remain at last four.

    *MS Semifinals :
    - Iskandar Zulkarnain (MAS) v Jan O Jorgensen (DEN)
    - Viktor Axelsen (DEN) v Chen Long (CHN)

The semifinal clashes almost go to the scenario if Lee Chong Wei didn't pull out but another Malaysian player fill the vacant spot. Zulkarnain had trouble to pass opening round and got scary escape against Guo Kai in last sixteen. Then the 25 years old booked his first ever semiifnal in Superseries tournament, he produced excellent performance to outwit recent KOR Superseries champion with his better retrieving skill to block Qiao Bin hard smashes. His next hurdle will be stern test to create huge breakthrough, one of Danish star Jan O Jorgensen who disposed the inconsistent home hopeful Tian Houwei at quarterfinal. On bottom half, a rematch of Rio Olympics semifinal is on course, Axelsen will be a first real test for China leading man Chen Long in this tournament as the Olympic Champion passed three previous rounds comfortably. The young Dane looks in good shape, demolished Takuma Ueda in two quick games at quarterfinal with 21-11, 21-6.

    *WS Semifinals :
    - Tai Tzu Ying (TPE) v Sun Yu (CHN)
    - Pusarla Venkatta Sindhu (IND) v Sung Ji Hyun (KOR)

Tai Tzu Ying played her best badminton to shock double world Champion Carolina Marin as the scoreline displayed 21-10 / 22-20. Her next opponent none but home last hopeful in this category, Sun Yu who always beat this Taiwanese talent in their four previous meetings. Sun got stiff resistance by Danish number one Line Kjaersfeldt before she stamped the authority in second game. Rio silver medalist, P.V. Sindhu took revenge over her younger nemesis He Bingjiao, the left-handed seemed fatigue in second game. The Indian will see familiar foe, Sung Ji Hyun who battled hard to overcome Japanese teen star Akane Yamaguchi.

    *MD Semifinals :
    - Chai Biao/Hong Wei (CHN) v Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo (INA)
    - Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen (DEN) v Liu Cheng/Zhang Nan (CHN)

Two Chinese combinations have difficult path en route to semifinal, the top-seed Chai/Hong almost knocked out by the unseeded Endo/Watanabe at opening round and another gruelling match against Conrad/Kolding last night while Indonesians Gideon/Sukamuljo have relatively easy way, two straight-games victory over their three previous rivals including Rio bronze medalist Ellis/Langridge in last sixteen. Liu/Zhang also had tough matches at early round to stun Goh/Tan and won narrowly Astrup/Rasmussen in three games at quarterfinal. Another Danish pair await them in last four, vast experienced and two-time champion Boe/Mogensen.

    *WD Semifinals :
    - Huang Dongping/Li Yinhui (CHN) v Kamilla Rytter Juhl/Christinna Pedersen (DEN)
    - Luo Ying/Luo Yu (CHN) v Chang Ye Na/Lee So Hee (KOR)

The giant-killer Huang/Li powered past Stoeva sisters yesterday and they will challenge high profile pair in last four, Rio silver medalist Juhl/Pedersen who eliminated Japanese youngsters Tanaka/Yonemoto convincingly. Another Chinese hopeful Luo twin sisters downed Matsuo/Naito to set up a clash with Korean number two Chang/Lee. The latter surprised their teammates, second seed Jung KE/Shin SC in last eight. All Japanese WD to fail into semifinal as their aces Matsutomo/Takahashi got unexpected result at second round.

    *XD Semifinals :
    - Ko Sung Hyun/Kim Ha Na (KOR) v Zhang Nan/Li Yinhui (CHN)
    - Choi Sol Gyu/Chae Yoo Jung (KOR) v Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir (INA)

It will be tough test for Zhang Nan & Li Yinhui who have two semifinals today, they created upset to thwart more favoured Zheng/Chen into next round, a first time since AUS Superseries the Chinese young sensation fail to book final spot. A hard job for home new partnership to face world number one, Ko SH/Kim HN. Korean pair also book another slot in semifinal, the promising Choi/Chae dumped recent All England Winner Jordan/Susanto and will take on the Olympic Champion, Ahmad/Natsir. The Indonesian top contender were pushed to the limit by Yoo/Chang last night. On paper scenario, they should overcome the less experienced Choi/Chae and most likely will challenge Ko/Kim on tomorrow's final.

    LIVE TV COVERAGE (01.00pm, Court 1) :

    1) Chai Biao/Hong Wei (CHN) v Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo (INA)
    2) Viktor Axelsen (DEN) v Chen Long (CHN)
    3) Choi Sol Gyu/Chae Yoo Jung (KOR) v Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir (INA)
    4) Iskandar Zulkarnain (MAS) v Jan O Jorgensen (DEN)
    5) P.V. SIndhu (IND) v Sung Ji Hyun (KOR)

I hope no more umpire scandal in the semis. Those who shout the loudest fell into silence when the same thing happened to HBJ. Just saying.

CHN players are involved in 7 out of today's 10 matches. The organizers should be able to afford to pay 7 foreign umpires.

MD is still not out of the woods yet for CHN, their weakest link.
