    DRAW date : 25th October 2016

Looking at the MS & WS entry list briefly, it's a comeback tournament for the Olympic Champion Chen Long also former champion Saina Nehwal as well post Rio OG. It's full of home young talents but not see former World Junior Champion Lin Guipu in the list.

In doubles category, host China is still to try some experimenting pairs like Fu Haifeng/Liu Xiaolong, Bao Yixin/Yu Xiaohan, Xu Chen/Tang Jinhua, Liu Cheng/Huang Dongping. From Korea squad, two new senior-junior combinations, Yoo Yeon Seong/Kim Jae Hwan and Ko Sung Hyun/Choi Sol Gyu.

Chen Long is taking a bit too long a break, imo. I have a feeling he'll lose some competitive edge as a result and will need a period of time to play himself into form.

Don't be shocked if he's inflicted an early exit by anyone.

    DRAW : http://system.bwfbadminton.com/uplo...RAW (Updated Tuesday, 25th October 2016).xlsx

So many byes in WD category also XD as well. Defending champion Lee Chong Wei is slated to meet Chou Tien Chen at last eight and either Jorgensen or Tian Houwei will be his possible semifinal opponent. The Olympic Champion Chen Long has challenging path en route to quarterfinal, Tommy Sugiarto at opening round then followed by rising compatriot Shi Yuqi and his nemesis Son Wan Ho, two Danish shuttlers Viktor Axelsen and Hans Kristian Vittinghus also join him at lower half draw.

World number one Carolina Marin has qualifier at first round but an unfavourable draw for second seed Ratchanok Intanon, she will face Japanese starlet Akane Yamaguchi too early. Another interesting opening tie will involve Saina Nehwal v Porntip Buranaprasertsuk and Sung Ji Hyun v Nitchaon Jindapol. Two home hopefuls, Sun Yu and He Bingjiao have separate draw, the tall Chinese 8th seed has familiar rival Busanan Ongbamrungphan at opening round, then she should take on Chen Yufei and Nozomi Okuhara will be her next hurdle. On the bottom-half of draw, 19 years old He BJ will find stern test at last sixteen, either former champion Nehwal or Porntip.

He Bingjiao seems favorite in WS. Eager to see how Saina performs after injury / surgery. It should take her 4-5 tournaments to get back to a significant rhythm.

It makes sense to pair FHF and Liu. Liu has potential but has bad habits. Fu might help give him discipline

Except that He Bingjiao is still young and inexperienced unlike her peer, Akane Yamaguchi, who has a head start having played in the pro circuit at a much younger age.

I expect that she'd be trying to get used to jetlag when she flew all the way back from Europe (and vice versa), takes time to get accustomed to it. Looking forward to see how she'll fare here.

Talking about the effects of jet lag I wonder how Gao Fangjie and Chen Yufei will perform in the China Open after 2 weeks of badminton and a 12-hour flight back to Beijing in economy class. They must be on the flight right now. Pleasant journey home to all of them and the juniors from the other countries.

Exactly, that's what I'm going to say. Didn't expect ChenYufei and Gao Fangjie to be enrolled for this tournament. They would be suffering from fatigue and jetlag on the way home, even the seasoned seniors would relish a much-needed break.

Perhaps CBA and coaches may allow them to have a rest for their mission accomplished at the WJC. For sure, their bodies will naturally want to unwind, esp the newly-minted WJC, Chen Yufei, who's on a high.

Wow. No Lin Dan. No Lee Chong Wei. Might as well skip this tournament - at least the MS.

In the last two SS and SSP, we have seen nice matches from the young guns, very entertaining!
Well, there was also LHI, who do not exactly qualify as a young gun

There's Chen Long, a superstar, and many other exciting rising stars, including the younger generation who are beginning to shine, and they will soon be the new faces of badminton.

Only thing is the unfavourable draw, for me, with Shi Yuqi slated to meet Chen Long in R2. Well, if Chen Long is not yet into the game, feeling rusty coming back from a long break, I'd rather he lose to the young up-and-coming SYQ to boost the young man's confidence and inspire him to grow from strength to strength as quickly as possible.
