Tan Wee Kiong is very quick at the front court, once you get the shuttle past him, Goh is ready to pounce at the back. Their understanding of each other, the kind of shot the other is likely to play and , therefore, what returns to expect, is pretty good. But if you can mix it up and keep the MAS guessing, then their speed advantage is reduced to normal like any MD.
Tomorrow's WS, Akane's stamina and retrieving ability can help her deal with Tai TY's deceptive game, evening their respective chances. Let's see who is in better form then. After seeing how Cheung Ngan Yi's remarkable court coverage and persistence caused quite a bit of problem for TTY until the very end, I think Akane has a credible or at least a fighting chance to edge out TTY for the title.
Don't think so. The coach's Mandarin is very fast and I don't think she can catch it. She must have a translator with her.
any idea which yonex model shoes Boe is wearing? btw with all the recorded conversation during the break.. if anyone caught swearing will be very embarrassing

So many first timers who will get a chance to enter their first ever SSP finals. MS - Son Wan Ho versus Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk WS - Akane Yamaguchi versus Tai Tzu Ying MD - Goh V Shem / Tan Wee Kiong versus Bodin Issara / Nipitphon Puangphuaphet WD - Jung Kyung Eun / Shin Seung Chan versus MIsaki Matsutomo / Ayaka Takahashi XD - Joachim Fischer Nielsen / Christinna Pedersen versus Zheng Siwei / Chen Qingchen
I think she would have translator with her. Many Malaysians working for BWF. The coaches were speaking mandarin chinese (albeit in Malaysian slang), the main language in china so even chinese translators can understand.
Respect to Yamaguchi - always have a soft spot for her since I saw her playing in early 2013 (age 15) and predicted she'd be top 10 within a year (she was ranked around world number 50 at that time). Most people here ridiculed me! Not only did she achieve top 10 status within about a year from then, but she also won a Super Series tournament (Japan) at the youngest ever age later in 2013. And now she's in another big tournament final, defeating the European/World/Olympic champion and World number 1. With the victory today, she also ties her H2H with arguably the GOAT 2-2.
Surprised by Yamaguchi over Marin. Looks like Marin was limping a bit from injury? But still, amazing performance from the youngster.
Tai Tzu Ying was not only in the final of SSP before, but she won in Indonesia SSP this year. She won the SSF Dubai in 2015 as well. And Yamaguchi I believe has been in SSP final once in China before.
Thanks for highlighting this. The word I put is many first timer not all are first timers. But thanks too for pointing it out. In that list only Tai Tzu Ying is not the first timer.
