This Danish girl, Natalia Koch Rohde, is something, pipped Sayaka Sato in G1, 22-20, and still giving her more established opponent a run for her money in G2.
I'm not a fan of this commentator. Annoying voice. I think Gill will be commentating when the tournament is progressing?
Agree with you. His commentary gives little insight on the game. Gill has better knowledge of the players.
the commentator is probably john burgess.. and he reads these forums... hi john.. he worked in Singapore which might explain his proclivity for things malaysian (badminton)
Julie Dawall Jakobsen, another Danish up-and-comer, she just gave Carolina Marin a big scare, narrowly losing the decider on deuce ?
All credits to Jakobsen against Marin, but she didn't make it. Great netplay though. Marin had a lot of troubles with that, but managed at last with 24-22.
So many Felicitations & Lack of match practice. when Olympics medal winners step on court, they need time to settle down. It will not be surprise if they lose in the first round. Carolina Marin escaped by the skin of her teeth to an unknown Danish player .
MAS Vivian/Woon losing 1 game 6-21 to KOR pair ranked 84. Their results have been mediocre and should they lose this match, it's time to contemplate a career switch.
Woah, Germany has really been studying Langridge/Ellis' game-- none of Chris Langridge's "tricks" are working on the German MD... But Chris and Marcus still have the most natural partnership this side of Boe/Morgensen and Cai/Fu-- and while Germany has great retrieving ability, I'm still not convinced about pairing 2 lanky guys in MD apart from Ivanov/Sozonov,
Everybody seems to be starting slow today-- hope there isn't a flu or something going around? I expect Lee Chong Wei to take it easy and play 3 games against an old hand like Wei Nan too....
Nice to see Brice Leverdez playing on-- but I guess it's still too early for Peter Gade to be bringing any French youngsters to the Super Series this Olympic Cycle?
Too many things wrong with ZZ methinks. No finishing at all, often times he was in a position to kill the play with a smash or similar, he didnt. As a result, he has a tendency to go for long rallies which is ok if he has the skills and the physicality. His shots were too predictable for a long rally kind of play and suicide in face of an opponent as experienced as BL. Often times BL is too ready for him, especially after the 15 points mark where top physicality counts the most. For sure his physicality is wanting. He definitely needs to move on to a better coach to help him overcome all the weaknesses.
