LCW had his chances in the beginning. Still, he carried himself like he was on the other end. Head down, shoulders droopy.

This signals the changing of the guard, finally - Lin Dan and Lee CW to hand over the reign to Chen Long for good.

Wrong tactics applied by Chong Wei in my opinion. He tried this tactic (slow, save play; only occasional smash) at the WC14 and WC15 and it didn't work out. He got away with it against LD, luckily, but not against Chen Long.

Normally we see Chen Long play defensively, but he applied the right tactics and it paid off. He was playing with confidence and going for his shots, whereas LCW played only not to lose. LCW has only himself, maybe the coaches to blame. You're not gonna win an Olympic final without smashing. I mean, seriously, what did he expect? Did he expect that he can outrun his younger, fitter and taller opponent? Not gonna happen. I knew it from the beginning. Well, at least he did not show signs of nerves like he did against Lin Dan.

Yet another silver 3 times i cant help to feel sorry for LCW he can pass Lin Dan but theres another one to deny him for another chance to get highest pride in badminton. And also another heartbreak for Malaysia 3 times chance but none of them able to convert it to gold medal. Congrats Cheng Long, malaysian team did a pretty good job though 3 silver medal thats something to be proud of.

Chen Long's era in 2015, after a brief interregnum, Chen Long resumes his reign. May Chen Long's era be a glorious one for several more years to come.

Well deserved in this final yes. LCW is the one who deserved a Gold medal for this effort in all these years, more than any other players. But that's not what count in a tournament. It's just your performance that matters, so CL deserved to win this final. Showed almost no weakness. While LCW had a few unforced errors like the very last point.

Maybe he should have smashed more on the body of CL, since he's that tall.

The win against LD proved costly. It sapped all the mental and physical energy out of him. Shouldn't have gone for the world # 1 ranking. That is a costly move too.

For the last three majors, it wasn't Lin Dan to deny LCW but Chen Long.

First point, I agree. The 2nd not. He had enough time to recover from all the tournaments.
