The last day of badminton competition in Rio will stage two men's singles clashes, bronze and gold medal match => http://olympics.bwfbadminton.com/live/?match=BDM001102&tab=live

*Men's Singles Bronze Medal match (08.30am local time, court 1)
    - Lin Dan (CHN) v Viktor Axelsen (DEN)
    H-2-H stat : 2-2 / WR : 3 v 4
It's doubtedly that two-time Olympic Champion still has extra motivation to contest for bronze medal match againt Danish young challenger. Axelsen agressive style will trouble Lin as he did in their last meeting at Denmark Premier. Lin presented his best in semifinal to eye unprecedented Olympic badminton gold hat-trick but lost narrowly to his arch-rival Lee Chong Wei in physically demanding duel that spent 83 minutes of play.

*Men's Singles Gold Medal Match (09.20am, court 1)
    - Lee Chong Wei (MAS) v Chen Long (CHN)
    H-2-H : 13-12 / WR : 1 v 2
An ideal final based on world rank and seeding position as only men's singles category is going to the script even at semifinal stage. Lee looks unstoppable to nail gold medal in his last Olympic, his important winning over long-time nemesis Lin Dan yesterday definitely enhance self confidence that he can do it this time in Rio. Two-time world Champion Chen needs desperately to prove he's China leading man and is trying hard to be out of his illustrious compatriot shadow. It's gonna be tough final tie, Lee won last four meetings and he's favoured to overcome the tall and lanky Chen.

First semifinal of Men's singles yesterday saw a master-class exhibition between Lee v Lin, Chinese ace took first game as Lee looked nervous and produced many uncharacteristic errors. In second game, the Malaysian took control the whole game, the real battle happened at deciding game where neck to neck scoreline until 16-16 then Lee cruise to lead 19-16 and match point 20-17. A drama continued as Lin saved three match points to level 20-20 then Lee grabbed next two crucial point, finally he could overcome Lin in a major event after swallowed disappointment repeatedly in World Championships (2011, 2013), Asian Games (2010, 2014) and Olympic Games (2008, 2012). An epic episode of two badminton icons that maybe their last encounter in international tournament.

Second last four clash of men's singles was an anticlimax, the composed Chen Long had little trouble against Axelsen who seemed frustrated to break Chen solid defense, as the Chinese displayed superb retrieving skill, he stepped up to gold medal match after failed to reach final four years ago.

The Spanish badminton queen, Carolina Marin completed her prestigious title collection to win badminton grand slam, Olympic Champion & World Championships gold medal in a grueling encounter against Indian promising star, Pusarla Venkatta Sindhu. Marin took lead at early stage of first game before Sindhu slowly catched up and grabbed it, 21-19. Then it's reversal situation for Marin as she ruled second game convincingly. Final game showed close match until interval 11-10, after that Marin cruised to lead with big margin and close the match, 21-15. An amazing achievement by the Spaniard to create history in world badminton also P.V. Sindhu as well to deliver first silver medal for India after bronze by Saina Nehwal in London 2012.

Fu Haifeng/Zhang Nan saved China face yesterday to claim gold medal after battled hard to eliminate Malaysian dynamic duo Goh V Shem/Tan Wee Kiong. The Chinese pair dropped first game then took next set easily, tight contest happened at final game, the vast experienced Fu Haifeng played the role in critical and thrilling situation. A fantastic achievement by Fu Haifeng as he defends his Olympic title with different partner! Malaysia needs longer time to score first ever gold in Olympic Games as men's singles final will rolling today.

    Well this is it.
I'm most likely gonna miss the game as I'm on a plane, but I'd be a nervous wreck anyway so maybe it's for the better.
    Good luck Lee Chong Wei

This is not true. Fu made a couple of critical mistakes near the end of the match that allowed the Malaysian pair to get to 20 points. It wasn't a good end of game performance by Fu and Zhang. It's just they were lucky after that point the Malaysian pair spectacularly choked, fell apart and break down mentally as they couldn't even serve the shuttle properly nor finish a simple kill, leading to the Chinese win.

If you ever want to see athletes suffer a complete meltdown, this would be the game to watch.

I have no idea on who to support this time. I wish lee chong wei could win as this is probably his last olympics. On the other hand, I also wish that Chen long could finally show us why he was world rank no 1.

I think Chen Long wins. LCW had a long match yesterday and it looks like Chen Long has once again timed his peak form perfectly, just like Marin does. He beat Axelsen so easily.

It has been a very heart breaking moment for the Malaysian when the MD narrowly lost their match against China in the MD Final.
In the MS, LCW almost miss out his 3rd Olympics Final after Lin Dan managed to level to 20:20 before LCW finally was able to close the match.

The MS Final will be another epic battle as LCW is fighting for his nation 1st Olympics Gold Medal against Chen Long who is also seeking for his 1st Gold Medal and renounced to the world that he is back and ready to take back the throne of MS. Chen Long had denied LCW chances to win the WC in August 2015 which is the last time Chen Long won against LCW . Will Olympics 2016 be the platform for Chen Long to repeat his achievement by winning over LCW and eventually revenge for his big bro Lin Dan. Chen Long is looking so good and totally in form to fight against LCW who has a very tough semi-final yesterday. Lets see whether LCW can recover in time after a tough battle yesterday or will it be an easy games for Chen Long similar to last year WC when CL is able to read LCW's games like an open book. If Chen Long win, it is going to be a sweet revenge after his continuous defeat and disappointment this year.

LCW is eager to win his gold medal but his nervousness may be the deciding factors in this final. The burden of the nation 1st Olympics Gold Medal after 2 times of disappointment may affect LCW. LCW can win if he does not give free point to Chen Long. LCW may suffer another heartbreak by not able to win the gold medal even after he has successfully eliminated Lin Dan in the semi-final . After all the hard work, it may be Chen Long who will have the last laugh in this Olympics if LCW is not able to step up his game.

Lets see whether LCW is able to do hat trick of beating both Lin Dan and Chen Long in the same tournament. Or will it be another close yet so far moment for the Malaysian?:cool:Only LCW can answer himself what kind of games he is going to play against Chen Long today. I always have faith in LCW but it seems LCW is the one who always does not have faith in himself:oops::oops: It is so frustrating to watch a nervous LCW playing on court:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Dont worry, Lee Chong Wei has just swallowed the so called "immortal pellet" 吞丹,
he just swallowed the "DAN", no doubt chokingly, but still swallowed him whole, yes.

Next he will go slay the "Dragon". the LONG. 屠龙

"tun DAN du LONG" if you know what it means.........

I think LD lost yesterday because he at 20-20 decided to save himself for the bronze medal match :D and that is why he did not bother to retrieve LCW dropshot.

No but seriously he has won so many close big matches vs LCW so he had to lose one sooner or later.

Can LD join the podium today? I think he will crush Axelsen, but we will see soon.

Nowadays athletes could end their career in a high note even they're over 30 years old which is already regarded past prime in physical condition.
Something which is hard to achieve in the past. This shows their life span as an athlete has expanded. Natsir ended her career on a sweet icing on a cake by 30 years old, Fu Haifeng turning 33 next week also. Could LCW who's turning 34 also join the bandwagon to become athletes who end their career on the high note over 30 years old?

Lin Dan doesn't care about a bronze medal, but he would like to leave the Olympics with a win. If he is still thinking about his loss, he might find it hard to concentrate. Viktor A would be happy to grab bronze. Will Lin Dan be allowed to retire in peace or will he be forced to play till another MS steps up?

Lee Chong Wei has another chance to grab that elusive Gold. His mental vulnerability to Chinese players are his only obstacle. Chen Long will look to grab gold but he is also mentally vulnerable.

    I give both matches 50:50
