MD needs speed much more than XD. ZN's speed already declined a little compared with a couple of years ago. I just can't see him keep playing MD because backcourt is not his strength. Usually backcourt players can play much longer than front court players.

I ranked Marin to top one. I think Marin opened a new era of WS play. She is going to be the new standard of WS. Other top players have some catch up to do. Especially China, I can't see any Chinese current or young players beat Marin.

I am happy they at least get the RM$600K bonus plus lifetime pension. Baddy players, unlike the name is LCW, when their career ends, they have to start a 2nd career unless they have rich daddy-O.

FHF and Hendra Setiawan should be a good MD pair, too bad they are not 10 yrs younger and from the same country.

Fu Haifeng doesn't have to worry that he has to go home to face his son's questioning now. Instead he'll be looking forward to show his son his new addition to the living room glass cabinet and check on his son's schoolwork
You simply ignore or disregard all of Marin's recent losses, 3x to WSX, 2x to WYH, 1x to Saina, 2x (was it 3x) to Nozomi, 1x to Sindhu - all within the Olympic cycle. Just because a player shines at the Olympics, everything else pales into comparison ? In that case, hail Ji Xinpeng , the Sydney 2000 gold medalist as one of the greatest of all time.

by watching this final and see the level of intensity, I think LYB would have agree that his strategy to put ZN in both MD/XD to begin with, was totally wrong. I hope future china coaches/leaders learn this lesson.

men single is highest profile of the 5 badminton dicipline, the most demanding, it make people interested to watch and draw in the crowd. you see whenever LCW or LD plays the crowd is always large.
yes, LD is still the most outstanding because people like to watch his style of play. today match was very close, and I feel if he really wanted it he would have won it.

I wonder if you actually watch the match. Lin Dan absolutely wants it and his face when LCW got the last point looks so devastated. Please give credit when its due and stop all the excuses of Lin Dan not eagerly wants another shot of Gold Medal. LCW wins it fair & square. Both are quite nervous and making some errors. The last man who is able to maintain their composure in the critical stage will win just like how China MD won their match.

You are looking backward and I am looking forward. Let's see what happens in the next 4 years. You should know every athlete has her cycles and Marin was injured the end of last year. What I am comparing is every athlete's top form, Marin is just simply ahead of other players in top form.

Let's take us a step back to see normal performance throughout the year. How many SS title did WSX, WHY or LXY win in the last two years? How many SS titles did Marin win in the last two years?

Chinese coaches need to make smart choices next cycles. They made too many strategy mistakes this cycle. And I hope they can have some answer 4 years later to Marin simple the best.
