So near and yet so far for P V Sindhu but a silver is a big achievement already for a first timer. Well done.

Congratulations to both ladies. Marin, the new Olympic WS champion.

Is it me or was Carolina Marin driving all the shots on the sidelines to Sindhu and Sindhu had trouble retrieving the drive shots down the sideline? Maybe the Spanish coach figured out that was Sindhu's weakness or Carolina figured out Sindhu was struggling with it.

Sindhu's defense was her let down in the last half of the 3rd set. In Men's singles, it's uncommon to drive the shot down the sideline if a clear/smash/drop is possible. But Carolina was executing this sideline drive over and over in the 2nd half of the 3rd set. Sindhu struggled to block the shot or return this sideline drive well. It gave Carolina the edge in the rally and now the rest is history.

Maybe Sindhu was tired too, I don't know. Certainly, Carolilna Marin had energy up to the end based on how aggressive she played. Congratulations to Spain's first ever gold medalist in Olympic badminton and also congratulations to India's first silver Olympic medalist in badminton.

She took the Carolina's racket and placed it at the side of court so Carolina won't trip. Nice sportsmanship. It was a match worthy of a final.... Congrats Carolina and PV Sindhu and Nozomi.

    Sindhu should have attacked more.
She allowed Marin to play her game.
