    The draw sep
the draw separation is not about nations, it is about seeding. The draw is nation-blind, and it has to be. It is all about ranking.

They were not "seperated", they were "drawn" that way-- stop making rules in your head and actually read them... yes, because Yamaguchi was only 10th seeded in Rio, she could have been drawn to play Okuhara as early as the group stage.

On doubles, runner up of the group can only play with the winner of other group, that will make the player will face among 3 couples, cause it only has 4 groups, and if they separate the same country, then the chance is even smaller, only 2 couples.

Do that. It won't help you magic Sindhu to a win.

I'm joking. No idea how her match is gonna play out.

AFAIK there was a redraw for non-pool winners, in order to prevent a repeat of the london fiasco.

    read this: http://www.bwfbadminton.org/file.aspx?id=634112&dl=1

warning: as with many bwf regulation manuals, the information can be vague, ambiguous and missing vital information.

He did not mention Sindhu's name at all.

Credit to her, she again did it in big tournaments. You can close your eyes and tell that she will defeat a chinese player on her way.

This is the time to take a nap. Bronze medal would have been decided already.

will be interesting to watch between NO and Sindhu. If it goes to 3 games, NO would have the advantage.

not exactly. the making of the pools was not nation blind. had the rankings put 2 players from the same contry into the same pool, olympic regulations would separate them.

"1. The Competitions shall be conducted in accordance with the Laws of Badminton. The General Competition Regulations will apply except where specific provisions are contained in these Regulations. Where there is any conflict or apparent conflict, the Regulations for the Olympic Games Regulations for Badminton shall take precedence."
