    How can no one here vote in confidence for the Luo sisters? Thread was started in May 2015, I assume the poll as well.

    So far both TYT/YY and TQ/ZYL get the 100% share :D what a hive mind indeed!

    Correction: Now I know... unfortunately the polling vote is changeable :p:D:confused::rolleyes: It should not be!

    If 2Luo were number one at the time the decision has to be made, they probably still wouldn't go.
    It's like WSX all over again...

    YY & TYT are my nr. 1 pick. I'm a big fan of TQ, but damn, the last matches with ZYL are awkward to watch. The temperature immediately drops below zero. A lot has changed in just a few years (humor yourself and watch some matches of TQ & ZYL around 2012/2013 and flash forward to their latest matches...)

    YY/TYT and TQ/ZYL i think have better chance for rio. BYX is a great player but she just doesn't have any regular partner but she won the AOSS though. Maybe the alternative choice is sending BYX with a so far unknown pair

    According to this report http://sports.sina.com.cn/others/badmin/2016-07-10/doc-ifxtwihp9914056.shtml , the CBA Rio Olympic namelist will be announced on 15th July. As of now, except for WD, the rest are more or less settled. Noticed that Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei for XD is specified.

    No wonder Zhao Yunlei said the other day (8th July) that she's not sure yet if she will be doing double duty in XD and WD.

    If ZYL and hence Tian Qing as well are dropped from WD, then who might be the replacements ? Luo Ying/Luo Yu ? Have to be as only three pairs from CHN WD are in the top 8 by the OG Qualification cut-off date May 1st.

    Li Yongbo's expressed main concern for CHN WD is that 3 of the 6 players are nearing 30 years of age. (Obviously , the 29-year-old Zhao Yunlei doing double duty in XD and WD is what's holding him back. Also having ZYL/ZN in XD is more reassuring by not stressing out ZYL in WD as well since ZN is going to do double duty in XD and MD. What's more, ZYL/TQ's performance of late hasn't been too convincing by their standards. - Justin).

    The (confirmed) name list as follows:

    MS = Lin Dan , Chen Long
    WS = Li Xuerui , Wang Yihan
    MD = Fu Haifeng/Zhang Nan , Chai Biao/Hong Wei
    XD = Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei , Xu Chen/Ma Jin
    WD = ??

    Thanks, Justin.

    I think we will know soon the real cause of the rift between Zhao YL and Tian Q.

    He might not want ZYL doing double duty, but what are his options?
    The twins are indubitably good players, but they haven't shown themselves to be Olympic medal contenders.

    You can't tell from the picture until you go to the link and read somebody's post dated yesterday (11th July) where the names of those present at the meeting were listed. Indeed, for badminton WD, there's no Tian Qing but the Luo twins were there, including Zhao Yunlei, Tang Yuanting and Yu Yang.

    I think , with Luo Ying/Luo Yu replacing Zhao Yunlei/Tian Qing, and Yu Yang hardly at her best, this must be the weakest CHN WD lineup for how many years or Olympics ?

    I'm also interested to find out which 2 ladies will play ping pong singles in Rio. The competition among the top 4 should be even more intense than LXR, WYH and WSX.

    The LOG'12 was Li Xiaoxia and Ding Ning,a match marred by umpiring service faults affecting DN, with LXX emerging champion. This time I'd go for Ding Ning, give her another chance, and Liu Shiwen.

    Of the four table tennis WS, the 4th one being Zhu Yuling, two will play singles and two doubles.

    I was following table tennis also. In 2012, Li Xiaoxia was obviously the better player. She mentioned that she was also affected by incident also. But now Li is not as good as before because of injury. Actually the best player should be Liu Shiwen. Too bad she won't play for WS gold.

    From TQ instagram post, it seems confirmed she will not compete in Rio.
    Sad. With another partner she surely would have also qualified for Rio (eg. Tang Jinhua), but there seems no confidence anymore that ZYL can do the double duty...
    I don't like to watch Luo sisters that much :-

    CBA pushed their luck too far in WD, experimenting, mixing and matching ,and shuffling their WD combinations too much and too long until there's not enough time to get more than three pairs in the top 8 for the OG qualifications, leaving them with little room to manoeuvre.

    Indeed, Tian Qing could've partnered someone else such as Tang Jinhua, Zhong Qianxin, or even Bao Yixin to form another excellent pair, in addition to other potential combinations that could have a crack at Rio. Instead, now CHN is stuck with an off-peak Yu Yang with a rising star, Tang Yuanting, and another pair, the Luo twins, that's less than ideal. What a pity.

    Overall, for this Olympics , CHN is sending a compromised lineup, what with the new BWF/NOC quota rule and their MD struggling to be among the best in the world, not to mention the absence of any real advantage in WS. On paper, the prospects is suddenly not looking very bright for Team CHN.

    Tian Qing writes good English. Quite impressed.

    Have to agree CBA didn't do themselves any favours. Quite surprising as they have always been very clear in the past on their doubles combinations.
