He and his coaches probably brushed it off as a fluke since Tago was so lowly ranked; and sad to say, they will probably brush it off as another fluke since Son Wan Ho is a lowly ranked player....

More words from Cai Yun: "I don't know if I am right to say this (Cai Yun is still training to be a coach), but I don't think we should be so protective of our players-- criticism might help them more than coddling" (my paraphrase of course, Cai Yun was commentating in Chinese).

The CCTV5 co-commentator quickly "softened" Cai Yun's criticism: "maybe it's just Chen Long personality/philosophy and his coaches are trying to work with that..."

Truer words were never spoken-- you can work ON a player's skills, but you can only work WITH a player's personality... You can't argue with the fact with Chen Long rose to the top playing "total defence & endurance", and it takes a really cool/patient player to do that.

Hahah, no wonder the Sideks left when Morten Frost tried to put Hendrawan into the Sideks' "privileged place".

Anyway, I dont mean celebrating a Thomas Cup win, but the overall performance of junior players in the Malaysian time-- Morten Frost has obviously been meeting the new KPIs set by the new (I say new, but of course this is over 2 years ago) Malaysian Sports Minister.

Hendrawan was already one of the MS coach before Morten Frost came.
One aspect is Hendrawan coached Iskandar since Iskandar went up to senior, main coach.
LCW, CWF, Daren were coached by Rashid and Tey SB

Now that Rashid has left BAM to become a club coach, I suppose Hendrawan is the MS boss

Hendrawan already in Malaysia as coach before Morten Frost arrived, Morten Frost only make Rashid and any unnecessary coaches and players out of the national team...

    LCW improve further under Hendrawan.

He was stagnant under Rashid and again under TSB.

Hendrawan must be doing something right.

I would hazard a guess that the Chinese coaches trusted Chen Long time and again because he is such a nice guy and easy to work with...especially compared to LD, who can/will say no.

I was surprised to learn from another ex-national team player from LD's batch who was commentating on CCTV5 that LD is actually "preparation" player-- i.e. the reason he plays relatively few tournaments is because he feels he has to prepare for them meticulously (possible plays/players), so the secret to looking so cool and playing so free is "preparation" X 3.

Someone said LD playing MS1 and THW playing MS2 which I think it's safer for Team China. Both of them should score 2 points.

But will this have an effect on CL?

No. Only Morten Frost's hiring, as in the $$$ needed. Other stuff, BAM left it to Morten Frost to handle.

THe Sports Minister this time, Khairy Jamaludin is younger compared to his precessors, so he has different view. And he isnt new anymore, been 3 years since the last election, ie since he became Sports Minister. Not without problems too, ie doping cases, embezzlement scandal by Sports Ministry staff. His image as Sports Minister isnt that good among Msians

Definitely. Had he won his match, THW would have had good chance of winning the third point.
