The big match of second round will pit title-holder Ahmad/Natsir v London OG silver medalist Xu C/Ma J, the Indonesian won their last two meetings despite overall head to head statistics favour to Chinese combination. Both pairs showed unimpressive performance along 2015, this year Ahmad/Natsir won MAS Premier while Xu/Ma bagged just concluded CHN Masters GP Gold crown. Top-seed Zhang N/Zhao YL, recent All England winner Jordan/Susanto, world number three Ko SH/Kim HN are expected to through into last eight.
    R/16 highlights : Dechapol/Taerattanachai (THA) v Lu K/Huang YQ (CHN), Lee CH/Chau HW (HKG) v Choi SG/Eom HW (KOR), Xu C/Ma J (CHN) v Ahmad/Natsir

2014 Commonwealth Games gold medalist Vivian Hoo/Woon KW progress into second round without sweat due to one of title contenderTang/Yu walkover, next the Malaysian pair will set up a duel with newly-crowned SIN Superseries champion Maheswari/Polii. Japanese formidable pair Matsutomo/Takahashi will be tested by young and dangerous two-time world junior champion Chen QC/Jia YF. KOR-JPN rivalry begin at this stage when their two representatives face off. Two home hopefuls, the Olympic Champion Tian Q/Zhao YL have INA upcoming duo, Awanda/Istirani and second seed Luo twin sisters will up against TPE combination, Hsieh PC/Wu TJ.
    R/16 highlights : Matsutomo/Takahashi (JPN) v Chen QC/Jia YF (CHN), Supajirakul/Taerattanachai (THA) v Haris/Sari (INA), Chang YN/Lee SH (KOR) v Fukushima/Hirota (JPN) v Jung KE/Shin SC (KOR) v Matsuo/Naito (JPN)

Local badminton queen Li Xuerui was forced to play extra game by her familiar foe, Porntip Buranaprasertsuk. After dropped first set, Li stamped authority in next two games. A pretty tough test is waiting the Olympic Champion at last sixteen, Japanese wonder teen Akane Yamaguchi who edged past Malaysian promising talent, Goh Jin Wei. All notable shuttlers in this discipline march on into second round, Nozomi Okuhara also Ratchanok Intanon as well will find tricky rival next, Bae Yeon Ju and Sayaka Sato respectively. Former champion Wang Yihan had trouble to down Tee Jing Yi and will take on another South East Asian shuttler next, Liang Xiaoyu and second seed Okuhara as well was stretched into three sets by Busanan Ongbumrungpan.
R/16 highlights : Li Xuerui (CHN) v Akane Yamaguchi (JPN), Tai Tzu Ying (TPE) v P.V. Sindhu (IND), Bae Yeon Ju (KOR) v Nozomi Okuhara (JPN)

A contrast fashion between two high profiles MS players, the in-form Lee Chong Wei outclassed Wang Zhengming while Lin Dan who played non-stop tournaments since IND Superseries end of March had tough opening round to overcome Ihsan Maulana Mustofa, the home darling escaped with 21-19 at deciding game, waiting him next is Vietnamese resilient player Nguyen Tien Minh. Top-seeded Chen Long sailed relatively smoothly to last sixteen with convincing first game and tight second set against Jeon Hyeok Jin. Bad result still continues for 8th seed Srikanth Kidambi as he was sent packing early, this time by Lee Dong Keun. Other seeded players step up without much problem, Tian Houwei, Chou Tien Chen and Tommy Sugiarto.
R/16 highlights : Tommy Sugiarto (INA) v Boonsak Ponsana (THA), Wang Tzu Wei (TPE) v Jonatan Christie (INA), Tian Houwei (CHN) v Angus Ng Ka Long (HKG), Takuma Ueda (JPN) v Chou Tien Chen (TPE)

The inconsistent pair and third seed Chai B/Hong Wei once again lost to Japan number two, Kamura/Sonoda despite forced deuce at first game, they will take on former number one Koo KK/Tan BH next for a place in quarterfinal. The front-runners Lee YD/Yoo YS and Ahsan/Setiawan are favoured to eliminate their next opponents, home top-ranked pair Fu HF/Zhang N will be challenged by Singaporean combination Terry Hee/Loh KH who stunned higher-ranked Malaysian Goh VS/Tan WK. Two Korean leading pairs Kim GJ/Kim SR-Ko SH/Shin BC, Endo/Hayakawa and Pratama/Suwardi also secure their places in last sixteen.
    R/16 highlights : Pratama/Suwardi (INA) v Liu XL/Qiu ZH (CHN), Kamura/Sonoda (JPN) v Koo KK/Tan BH (MAS), Kim GJ/Kim SR (KOR) v Gideon/Sukamuljo (INA)

What a underwhelming schedule for court 1 oO Even worse for the TV schedule, which is likely to start at 1pm... :/

By the way, maybe you can rename the thread as R16, pcll 99, rather than the date :)

    Yes thanks.

The tournament prospectus names Thursday a preliminary round, but Friday quarter finals.

    I don't know why.

Anyway, I don't think I can change the title of the thread now.

Perhaps I should let CLELY create the threads for the rest of the tournament.

Yup, it doesn't matter pcll99, keep it up :)

Two INA back-ups lost three games to more favoured Korean mixed doubles pairs.

Once again a rubber games battle for Li Xuerui after yesterday's first round tie, she eliminated Akane Yamaguchi in close encounter, 21-19 at decider. Next, either Tai TY or Sindhu will be her quarterfinal opponent.

Wow, all 4 KOR XDs marched into the QF. All in different quarters, making a possible (though very unlikely) all-KOR SF.

Yup, 5-0 favours to KOR number one. Disaster run for INA XD here, three pairs are already ousted.
