Both Lee chong wei and Lin dan will try their best to secure world No.2 to avoid Chen Long. This why Lin dan is in good shape to get the titles of German and All England over the last two and half weeks. However, Lin Dan have to beat LCW in both Indian Open and Malaysian open at semifinals. In asian championship, he also needs to defend the title and hope LCW only make to semifinal.
'Lin Dan is at his best', claims Chong Wei “From what I saw in the German Open and the All-England, he (Lin Dan) was at his best." '' But a player cannot be at his best in all tournaments." http://www.therakyatpost.com/sports/2016/03/16/chong-wei-shrugs-off-lin-dan-threat/
Wow, the second quote is completely taken out of context. When I first read it, I thought LCW was talking about LD not being able to be at his best in all the tournaments. After reading the article I realized he was talking about himself and his first round loss at the AE.
I can't really agree with that, LD is not at his best imo. His best was around 2008. But his performance has certainly improved since the start of this year. Whether it is good enough to beat the likes of CL and LCW no one can be certain... I was courtside at the SF watching LD play and it was a master-class performance. The match against XS is a classic for any doubters to LD's current style of play... The amount of energy that XS had used in the first couple of games with nothing left in the tank is testament to LD's current style of play. However I did notice that LD's defence is still not quite good enough imo. Playing against players like CL, who can smash from pretty much anywhere, consistently and accurately, it could prove difficult for LD. I would love to see another LCW vs LD olympic final. I wouldn't mind whoever wins.
old but gold video about Lin Dan, still my favorite documentary about him from 3:00 to 5:00 he was telling the story of his childhood where he's always closer to his mom (later on the video there were also some story about his mom's support in his life) but afraid of his strict dad. Since going to live in a badminton dorm school he missed his dad and mum, he would always check the main gate if they would come visit him. He didn't have a racket in the beginning and always were just doing a lot of basic or fundamental physical training. When he asked for a racket to his mom, his mom told him she would get him one if he could break a glass with a shuttle (where she was actually trying to get him to practice the form by throwing overhead style, her mom knew that there's no chance he could break a glass with shuttles ^^). In the end he found out that it was all a lie but he actually believed it in the beginning. He then got a broken racket on the shaft wrapped up with clothes in the middle. It all started from a broken racket and the rest is history....
wow my first like from the Mod, thanks^^ Lin Dan on the soup he's having in London: " My mom's soup's tastier" Lin Dan giving mum big kiss on her birthday. Everyone else: "With a big sound!!" Lin Dan : SMOOOOCH!!! forget those medals , dude got the best thing in the world ....FAMILY (Father And Mother I Love You)!
It's an old video, I believe many of us have seen it before when it was first posted here which elicited a lot of discussion and warm resposnses. Nevertheless, thanks to mikescully for bringing it up again, always good to revisit it. It shows the lighter, endearing side of Lin Dan in his private life. On the badminton court and in his public persona, his swagger and the way he carries himself, many mistake it for arrogance, no, they are not the same. Lin Dan possesses humility born of true greatness. Trust me, the more you know him, the more you'll like him. Personally, there are two things I dislike about him, his tattoos and his unshaven look with moustache and goatee (I prefer him looking neat and clean shaven). Oh, another thing, I don't take well to his underwear ads, thought it doesn't suit his image , but that's just me.
Towards the end of the clip we can see his mother playing a couple of strokes with him. Not bad for a lady of her age. She probably played badminton when she was young and was quite good at it. LD inherited her mum's badminton genes? Just asking. My wish for you, LD, is to quickly get two sons with XXF. Who knows in 20 year's time we will get to see another two badminton superstars.
The most notable improvement is in his around the head, account to me. Also, footwork is fluid. Nice one Fox.
