At this age, I doubt any games between Chinese players are "arranged" as China is also as capitalist as the US.

But to China's advantage tactically over tournament draws, LYB would rather prefer to have Lin Dan to win the All England over other Chinese players as Lin Dan will score more points to have him be moved up to his world ranking to No.2, just behind CL. With both Chinese players being ranked No.1 and No.2 in the world, most tournaments will have no other choice but to have them seeded No.1 and No.2 respectively, and thus be separated in top and bottom half of the draw. Then we will not see the situation here in All England with Lin Dan and Chen Long both in the top half of the draw.

If both Chen Long and Lin Dan can maintain No.1 and No.2 ranking in the world till the end of Olympic qualifiers in April, China will then stand a very good chance to win the Rio Olympic men single gold medal as both Chen Long and Lin Dan will not meet each other at least till the Final if there is no major upsets in the running. LCW will also need to face at least 1 of Chen Long or Lin Dan if all qualify to the semi-final stage, unlike in this year All England where LCW was expected to be in the Final without meeting either Lin Dan or Chen Long in the semi (who know LCW will be knocked out in the first round and Chen Long in the second round). All is good for China's cause to win the Rio Olympic men single Gold Medal if Lin Dan continue his good form and continue to climb the world ranking ladder to at least WR2 position.

What a perfomance from Lin Dan at the final! It was a very important win over Tian Houwei, as he is the closest chinese player in Race to Rio ranking. As said in the interview, he wants to show his coaches that he, despite his age, still can play at a high level, and should be in the Olympics

He will be WR2 next week. But the biggest thing is that LCW has a lot of room to improve. He has not played any tournaments that are about to come up last year, and he can only gain points. Also, he is short on tournaments, and even one good tournament can take him way above LD.

LCW can get many points as long as he participates in any tournament before OG but LD cannot get as many points as LCW even he wins the title

Lol! What logic is that? LD wins titles get no point while LCW gets all the points he needs just as long as LCW participates in any tournaments, not necessary to win.

no the rule is quite complicated.
last year LCW didn't play any match before May 1st and he participated in no tournament before US open so the points he will get from the coming tournaments will be like,if he won 7000 points then 7000 points will be added to his current record
For LD he didn't miss much tournaments last year and he participated in more than 10 tournaments already so his points will be like,if he won 7000 points then first of all we need to find out in which tournament he got the least points, let's say the least he got was 3000,and then we will minus 3000 from his 7000 points, which makes his final points 4000 only, and only 4000 will be added to his current record

BWF sure has a very stupid system then, they somehow manage to punish players who support more tournaments the BWF organises and reward those who choose tournaments sparringly.

Its not a stupid system at all. 10 tournaments are counted towards the world ranking. If you play less, you are punished - otherwise you are ranked according to STRENGTH, not volume. Would be pretty stupid if some nonamer from India or Indonesia was WR because they played 30 tournaments and only won 1 International Challenger event or sth and crashed out of SS in QF or R16.

I think the WR system is fair. You take the player's 10 BEST tournaments, ie scored the most points in each tournament, and add up the total.

So in order to improve on your overall score, you need to score more points in your next tournament than the lowest one in your previous ten tournaments. You add the DIFFERENCE to your total.

Therefore if a player can win a tournament, his chance of improving his WR is apparent, because he gets the maximum points for that tournament. For now the SSP has the highest scoring chance, than the SS or GPG. So LD's AE victory gives him many points.

Now is a race between LD and LCW. Can LD unseat LCW as WR2 before Rio Olympics?

If LD succeeds as WR2, he will not have to meet CL WR1 until the final, assuming they both won all their previous matches, as they will be separated in each half.

As both LD and LCW are not participating in the forthcoming Swiss Open, they will not score more points until their next tournament.
