Can't wait to see the best players in action for this coming tournament. However sad to say that the tournament will be held in German and the time zone is different from Asia. Thus I won't be able to watch all the matches live. Nonetheless I will still go online to check the scores and results.
UPDATE- Carolina Marin (SPN), top seed, has withdrawn from the German Open 2016 due to an injury as well as Iris Wang (USA). On the men's side: Vittinghus (DEN), Zulkiffli (MAL), Jayaram, Prannoy, Praneeth (IND) have also withdrawn. On the Men's Doubles side, Hirata/ Hashimoto (JAP) have withdrawn. A few other low ranked players have withdrawn in Women's doubles and Mixed Doubles.
Hirata/ Hashimoto (JAP)'s withdrawal can see Goh/Tan have good ride to 2nd round as gonna face Chai/Hong...
Oh no!! BSP, AJ and HSP all had chances to gain few much needed ranking points!! We all know they can't do much in upcoming AE so this is an "opportunist missed" case
I completely agree, these guys are in dream to get AE championship....they cant reach QF..... I am worry abt saina as well.....without any prior tournament practise, how she can do well in AE?......we will see........
Marin withdrawn due to injury? I won't be the least bit surprised if she appears at the following week's AE fit as a fiddle to start fresh and concentrate on the more important premier event. She has set such a precedent before.
Unless LF gets back to her WC form, unless she ignites the flame of self belief again, unless she show the signs of def TTY from coming back 7-8 pts deficit, he isn't serious!!
There is also the fact that Carolina Marin has only 580 ranking points to gain out of this Grand Prix Gold tournament even if she came out victorious. Not sure it is worth 4 days of tournament. As you said she is preserving her energy and focus on the All England. Nozomi Okuhara is the favorite in this tournament for me. Has been so convincing since the Hong Kong Open last year. Hope Yamaguchi has recovered from her injury as well, she has lost a whole lot of ranking points and is now outside of the top 10.
Nothing to lose. Carolina Marin still have 7772 points from Sudirman Cup (week 20, 2015) AND this point still not used for her Ranking. So, even if she came out victorius in German GPG and got 7000 points. It useless, because that point lower than another points not used either. http://tournamentsoftware.com/profile/history.aspx?id=213226C1-39FD-4443-A603-69E07939C39E Nozomi Okuhara is the most favorite maybe. But don't for get about Aya Ohori which starting from qualification. She is also a promising young player from Japan.
You are right. So even less reasons for her to play this tournament then! Although it's very close to Spain.

Extremely improbable! If you look at the WR my bro there is heaven hell diff in SN's and CM's pts!! Needless to say only LXR and SN are currently in the position to catch her up but they aren't playing many tourneys!! If only both SN and LXR played as many tourneys as SJH or NO we might have any chance! But the WR doesn't matter much, if CM manages to maintain her last year's form she is undoubtedly the fav for Rio currently only NO seems to pose her danger! But even that is difficult CM looking at her Dubai performance is now a solved mystery
