Japan have the best coach in the world? Based on this one tournament ? Shouldn't it be at least for the entire year ?

Since the super series started in 2007, this is the second worst result in a season for China in terms of number of titles won. China only won 28 out of the 65 titles this year, the only worse result was in 2008 where China won only 27 titles.

I hope that Wang Shixian will bounce back next year and win a title. For 2015, LXR won two superseries titles while WYH managed to reach the finals in the master finals. I still hope that WSX will make it to Rio given that she is more consistent.

No what I am trying to say is Japan really have the best coach in the world. It is not based on this tournament only.

Amazing results. Can't wait to watch the replays. Okuhara wins the entire elite tournament without dropping a set. Arguably the most dominant display at the year end finals? She's been my favourite for nearly two years now (well before she broke into the top 10), so it's good to see my "faith" repaid hehe. Must be hard for China to see this hehe. However, can't say too much for now, as Carolina Marin has still won all the big ones this year - All England and World Champs. Remember TTY won this end of year tournament last year and did nothing this year. Let's see how Okuhara fairs next year - hopefully much better than TTY. Marin being one of the greatest players of all time (could end up as the greatest ever depending on Rio next year and subsequent years) will still be the player to beat - Okuhara has made a great start thrashing her twice this week!

Surprised to see Axelsen being taken out so easily. But seriously, nothing to write home about until these guys consistently beat Chen Long and Lin Dan. LCW will no doubt get crushed next year when there's more pressure on, so there's not much point mentioning him too much.

Also surprised to see Ahsan/Setiawan fight so hard to win this tournament. I guess they are motivated to psychologically finish strongly this year. They are seriously the best when they play seriously!

It does not work like that. Head-to-head records also depends on playing styles. To me it looks Momota can neutralize Axelson's attack and frustrate him, that's why it looks like he played worse than yesterday.

All credit to Axelsen for beating Chen Long, but I think the victory was helped by slow conditions. I expect Chen Long to beat Axelson next time.

So Wang Yihan didn't win a title this year? Incredible!

The omen started last year when JPN lifted Thomas Cup for the first time, knocked out hot-fave China in last four. Their two future stars emerged champion here, 20 years old Okuhara and 21 years old Momota had fantastic run, being unbeaten en route to bag gold medal.

Japan won two prestigious titles in singles category, big achievement so far in Superseries level.

Wang Yihan won TPE GP Gold last July, Wang Shixian didn't win any title in this year calendar.

Season-ending finale presented unpredictable outcome that Okuhara, Momota, Adcock/Adcock stole the right momentum and won title here. Luo twin sisters proved that they're dependable to maintain China supremacy in women's doubles category. Ahsan/Setiawan redeemed their losing streak to close this year with sweet triumphant.

All top players will be back for All England on March 2016 ;)

Japan will be a strong contender for next year's Surdirman. Their biggest weaknesses are XD and MD.

Much as I am rooting for the underdogs, I have to admit the Indonesian deserved the title. That's the quality of the best, the ability to adapt to the opponents tactical offence and turn the situation ard to their adv.

But H2H over the longer term , statistically by the law of average, say based on at least 10 matches or more, should give a very good indication of who is the better player, playing styles notwithstanding.

For example, Lin Dan practically has a positive H2H against everyone, except the odd 0-1 against a player who retired when he was in his early years. Take Park Sung Hwan's case who is seen by many as a difficult opponent for his playing style, and he is one of the very few apart from LCW who have beaten Lin Dan a few times, 4 times to be exact. Yet over the course of their careers, from 2006 to 2011 when PSH retired, they met 18 times and their H2H is 14-4 in favour of Lin Dan.

For me, I tend to give more weight to results in recent years, even then Lin Dan came out well on top of PSH as shown on the BWF H2H records.

Incredible that the head coach have improved the whole Japan team but cannot dominate the MD when himself is MD specialist. Something not quite right here....

You did not get me. Park Joo Bong is a decorated Men Double specialist. He should know how to groom the Men doubles category.

Congrats to Nozomi, she trashed Marin twice, I don't know how the hell she managed to do that

Also Hendra Ahsan might not win most of title but they always win in biggest event, WC, AG etc. I can say they are big stages materials ;)

Surprised to see Adcocks won too, but happy for them after all these years :)

Park as a player excelled in both men's and mixed doubles, also the weakest disciplines of the current Japanese team after so many years in charge.
