As a LD fan,the defeat to LCW in China Open hurts more than QF loss to JOJ in WC....Hope,he can take the revenge in Olympics.

Lin Dan looking after his two juniors, asking them to step onto the winners' podium with him, one on each side , to pose for a final photo-taking, nice gesture, not grabbing all the limelight for himself.

With this win for Lin Dan, will his ranking rise to number two next week?

I was hoping he could invite Pablo along for the photo too. Pablo looked a bit left out there.

If you take badminton in general, Kim Dong-Moon did it much much before Lin Dan.
And his win in the Americas was not some measly GP medal but an Olympic Gold.

In MS, both Lee Chong Wei and Taufik Hidayat are missing a win in Australia.
Lee Chong Wei lost to Tian Houwei at the Australia Open 2013.
And Taufik lost to Ji Xinpeng in the QF of the Sydney Olympics.

    Step aside Kim Dong Moon.

Ge Fei / Gu Jun won in Atlanta, Sydney, and of course everything else that can be won in Europe/Asia. They were unbeaten between 1996 and 2000 except for one Japan Open final where Gu Jun was ill.

I noticed the photo-taking usually starts with all four winners, then the champion with the runner-up, finally only the champion himself/themselves. So Pablo has already taken one with Lin Dan . Then lastly, after Lin Dan was asked to pose alone, he obliged and after a while he decided to get his juniors onboard, one on each side with him.

Frankly, I hadn't expected the CHN WD Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan, both 18/19 yrs old, to beat the senior, more experienced and established Dutch pair Muskens/Piek, the top seed. Thought this might be the only discipline going to the non-CHN in the finals.
