Sorry about this then. To be honest I don't know both of them and I also didn't know that Poland have such a good XD in the past.
They are still only ranked number 52 in the world, so yeah, it is an "upset" on ranking. Especially against a younger and "more active" pair. If you look at their last tournaments, they have won every International Challenge. This GPG win should see them go up more than 10 places.
To be fair, the Polish XD pair has been off the radar for quite some time, you really can't blame blabl or anyone for that matter to consider their victory a sort of upset, perhaps not a big upset but quite unexpected though.
These two young ladies,Akane at 18 yrs old and Busanan at 19, their rivalries hark back to their junior days where Akane came out on top most of the time.
Yesterday, Akane was so energetic she made Intanon looked lethargic. Now Akane and Busanan are both playing at a high pace.
I should point out that both Akane and Intanon came to this tournament from the French Open last week where Akane exited in R1 to her teammate Kaori while Intanon had a semifinal long, grueling, three-setter match with WSX.
I noticed that Akane recently has started to play more aggressively than her colleagues, Mitani, Nozomi, and Yui, maybe as much as Sayaka. She is smashing more, even from the backline with killing effect.
Okay now Akane Yamaguchi is leading the second set 19-14. Wow what a come back and good fighting spirit I must say.
When Akane thinks she needs to take a break from hard smashing, she reverts to her favourite drop shots again, lots of them.
